Hero Vida VX2 Review

The electric two-wheeler space in the country is growing rapidly, with new models

In this post, we take a look at the real-world review of the new Hero Vida VX2 in terms of range, performance and features. EV sales have grown rapidly in recent years. This includes both cars and two-wheelers. Many new companies have entered the market to take advantage of this trend. In response, Hero MotoCorp has launched its own electric scooter brand called VIDA. The latest model from VIDA is the VX2. It offers a flexible battery option. Buyers can either pay for the battery at the time of purchase or rent it each month. This is part of the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) plan. Here is our detailed review of the product.

New Hero Vida VX2 Review

As a part of the media drive, I rode and reviewed the new Hero Vida VX2 in Bengaluru. I like the overall design of the electric scooter with a combination of traditional appearance and modern elements. This includes an ice-cube-designed LED headlamp and LED indicators, dual treatment at the fascia, large storage at the front and 27.2-litre capacity under the seat, LED taillamp, stylish alloy wheels with a sturdy grab handle at the rear for the pillion. However, a full-face helmet poses storage problems. The key aspect is the removable batteries, which can be charged at home. Apart from that, the electric scooter boasts tons of new-age amenities. These include things like

  • 4.3-inch TFT Display (Plus) or LCD (Go)
  • OTA (Over-the-air) Software Updates
  • Geofence Alerts
  • Firmware Over-The-Air (FOTA) Updates
  • Turn-by-turn Navigation
  • Call/SMS Alert
  • Crash and Fall Detection
  • Remote Immobilization
  • Over-speed Alerts
  • 33.2-litre Boot Space (with removable battery)
  • 27.2-litre (underseat capacity with Plus variant)
  • Full LED Setup with Projector Headlamps
  • VX2 Plus Colours – Autumn Orange and Matt Gun Metal Grey
  • VX2 GO Colours – Pearl Red and Nexus Blue

Specs and Ride Impressions

The Hero Vida VX2 is on sale in two avatars – VX2 Plus and VX2 Go. There are two battery configurations with it – dual 1.72 kWh and single 2.2 kWh, respectively. The VX2 Plus offers three ride modes – Eco, Ride and Sport, while the VX2 Go only gets the first two modes. The real-world range figures are 142 km and 92 km (IDC test), respectively. Finally, the top speeds are restricted to 80 km/h and 70 km/h, respectively. Hero claims a real-world range of around 100 km on the Eco mode. Furthermore, the acceleration from 0 to 40 km/h comes up in just 3.1 seconds.

I rode the scooter across a diverse range of road conditions. The one thing I noticed specifically was the fact that the seat is a bit firm. That led to me feeling a few undulations of the road easily. However, apart from that, the VX2 rides well, and the performance is adequate. I would like to mention that the acceleration is also brisk until around 60 km/h. Thereafter, reaching its top speed of 80 km/h takes quite a while. Still, the overall performance and ride quality leave nothing more to be desired.

Price

Due to the BaaS model and PM E-Drive subsidy, the entry-level variant comes at an attractive price point of just Rs 44,990 for the Go trim and Rs 54,990 for the Plus version. These prices rise to Rs 84,990 and Rs 99,990 with the battery, respectively. These are some enticing figures which will attract a whole bunch of new buyers.
