The compact SUV is the newest Skoda car in the country, with an aim to boost sales further by catering to a wider range of potential customers
The Skoda Kylaq can now be purchased via the CSD route across the nation. You must already know that the Canteen Stores Department (CSD) is mainly for defence personnel in India, which operates under the Ministry of Defence. These include serving and retired personnel of the Army, Navy, and Air Force, as well as their families, and widows of military personnel. In fact, this department even serves members of select paramilitary forces, defence civilian employees, and their families. The main attraction is a significantly lower price of a variety of products than the market value. Cars are a major amenity under this system.
Skoda Kylaq Available Via CSD Depots
Skoda Auto India has introduced its new SUV, the Kylaq, to the Canteen Stores Department (CSD) network across the country. This move allows eligible members of the armed forces to buy the Kylaq at subsidised rates, making the SUV more accessible to those serving the nation. The Kylaq is built on the MQB-A0-IN platform, a structure developed for India but backed by European engineering. It is manufactured locally and has already secured strong safety credentials. Under the Bharat NCAP testing program, the SUV achieved a 5-star rating for both adult and child occupant protection, a significant recognition for Indian-built vehicles.
The availability of the Kylaq through CSD is part of a larger strategy by Skoda Auto India. The company is looking to strengthen its presence beyond regular retail. This includes tapping into government agencies, certified pre-owned markets, and fleet buyers. Efforts are also underway to expand reach in corporate and rural segments, ensuring a wider customer base in the coming years.
By making the Kylaq accessible through the CSD network, Skoda not only supports armed forces personnel but also takes another step in broadening its market footprint in India. The initiative reflects the company’s focus on blending local manufacturing, global standards, and new distribution channels to stay competitive in a fast-changing automotive landscape.
