American Lady Drives Kia Seltos 9 Lakh Km

Kia Seltos is a successful model not just in India, but across many parts of the world

In a rather impressive turn of events, an American lady clocked over 9 lakh km on her Kia Seltos in a matter of just 5 years. Seltos is what led to the commencement of operations for the Korean auto giant in India back in August 2019. The mid-size SUV became so popular in our market that people jumped onto all Kia cars subsequently. As a consequence, Kia achieved the title of being the fastest carmaker to reach 1 million (10 lakh) sales in India ever, in just 59 months. Today, the sales are going strong with products like the Seltos, Sonet, Carens, Clavis EV, Carnival, Syros, EV6 and EV9.

The specifics of this case stem from cowboykia on Instagram. The visuals capture the Kia Seltos owner conversing with the host of the video. The man asks the woman inside the Seltos how many miles she has clocked on this Seltos. To this, she replies, 570,141 miles, which roughly translates to 9,17,555 km. That is simply incredible. Furthermore, the lady goes on to inform the man that she purchased it back in 2020. In just 5 years, she has been able to drive it so much all across the nation due to her job.

In all honesty, we don’t hear about such cases with Kia cars all that often. Generally, people associate such kind of reliability only with Toyota cars. Nevertheless, I must mention that machines and their components are mostly designed to last a very long time. With large carmakers, the decades of R&D ensures that the car remains in good condition for as long as possible. This is where your driving mannerisms come into play. I have seen people being so passionate about their cars that they take care of every aspect of driving and ownership.

In such cases, it is normal for cars to last a lifetime or clock incredibly high kilometres. Contrastingly, if you misuse the car or have a habit of driving the car in a rough manner consistently, it would considerably shorten the lifespan of the mechanical components. As a result, they start giving problems after a few years. Therefore, I believe it is critical to take utmost care of the vehicle and there is no reason why it wouldn’t last a really long time.

As someone who has seen the Kia Seltos story unfold since its India debut, I find this feat a testament to how far the brand’s global engineering standards have come. Clocking over 9 lakh km in just five years shatters the old perception that only Japanese cars, particularly Toyotas, can deliver long-term reliability. It also reinforces the fact that modern Kias, especially the Seltos, are built to take on both demanding usage and diverse driving conditions. For Indian buyers, this endurance story further validates Kia’s credibility as a long-term ownership proposition.
