JK Tyre has launched India’s first embedded smart tyres technology for passenger vehicles. Admittedly, I have not reported all that many new techniques or innovations in the field of automobile tyres for a while now. Come to think about it, it is a bit strange considering that tyres play a crucial role in every kind of vehicle, from two-wheelers to large commercial trucks, bicycles, etc. These not only put the engine’s power down to the road, but also provide comfort to the passengers by absorbing the undulations on the roads. For now, let us take a look at the details of this latest case.
JK Tyre Launches India’s First Embedded Smart Tyres for Cars
These embedded smart tyres bring intelligent, connected, and sustainable mobility to Indian roads. Note that this technology was developed in-house by JK Tyre at the Banmore facility in Madhya Pradesh. These next-gen tyres come equipped with built-in sensors that constantly track key parameters like air pressure, temperature, and air leaks. The data is shared in real time, allowing drivers to take immediate action and maintain optimal performance and safety. This can ensure that accidents can be prevented by under-inflated or overheated tyres.
Furthermore, these can improve the fuel efficiency and extend tyre life by ensuring proper maintenance. Initially, these Embedded Smart Tyres will be available for cars with tyre sizes 14-inch to 17-inch. One can purchase these across the JK Tyre dealerships in the country. This launch builds on JK Tyre’s earlier success with its SMART Tyre technology, first introduced in 2019 through TREEL sensors. That system combined Tyre Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS) with cloud-based analytics and became popular among both fleet operators and private vehicle owners.
