The Indian automobile giant is harbouring some huge plans to expand its electric portfolio
In a rather exciting turn of events for Mahindra fans, the auto giant has just released a new teaser for its upcoming EV. Now, we all know that the XEV 9S is planned to debut at the upcoming ‘Scream Electric’ event to be held on November 27 in Bengaluru. However, the new teaser suggests that it might be accompanied by its sibling from the BE family. The BE 6 is already on sale in our market and is doing pretty well on the sales charts. Hence, it will be intriguing to see yet another model with that trademark coupe silhouette join the range.
Mahindra Teases A New BE Model
The official teaser captures glimpses of the new EV. The overall silhouette reminds us of the bold and imposing design philosophy associated with the BE range. While we have only seen the BE 6 in the flesh, we know that there are a couple of other models in the pipeline, as shown during the announcement of the concept models back in 2022. In this video clip, we briefly get to experience the front fascia with that typical hood scoop, which is there on the BE 6. It will primarily serve the purpose of making the EV aerodynamically efficient.
Apart from that, we see the sleek LED DRLs on the edge of the bonnet with headlamps positioned on the bumper. At the rear, the coupe electric SUV carries a unique two-part roof-mounted spoiler. Also, the sloping roofline confirms the coupe silhouette. Additionally, the aero wheels are something we have seen on many modern-day EVs to make the vehicle aerodynamic. Overall, the entire vehicle is designed to appear striking and offer minimal resistance, which in turn will enhance range. More details about the specific model, range, battery, features, etc., will surface soon.
My View
I am thrilled to experience the trajectory of Mahindra in the EV space going forward. The existing XEV 9e and BE 6 have already been immensely popular among the masses. Going forward, I see no reason why this fame won’t multiply with the kind of models in the pipeline. The XEV 9S is the first one that we will soon see on our roads. With this new teaser, it looks like there will also be another BE model on sale in the coming months.

Having tracked Mahindra’s product strategy for well over a decade, I can clearly see the brand sharpening its EV play with a level of intent we haven’t witnessed before in the Indian market. The BE lineup, in particular, is shaping up to be a style-led yet mass-relevant pillar in Mahindra’s electrification roadmap. If this new coupe-SUV joins the XEV 9S on November 27, it will further strengthen Mahindra’s positioning against both Tata’s expanding EV portfolio and the wave of global entrants eyeing India. This is exactly the kind of aggressive product cadence Mahindra needs to maintain its momentum.
