Design and Dimensions

The new Renault Duster comes with modern styling and design philosophy. From the outside, one clearly witnesses that the French car marque has created it according to the Indian sensibilities. We know that Indians want their vehicles, particularly the SUVs, with an imposing road presence. The new Duster embodies that approach with muscular body panels and an upright stance. At the front, we witness the sleek LED DRLs integrated inside the LED headlamp cluster featuring Renault’s global light signature, a striking trapezoidal grille, an upright bonnet with contours, a sporty bumper with a rugged and adventurous skid plate section. The front profile certainly offers an aggressive demeanour.

Moving down the sides, captures strong shoulder lines and strong proportions too. This includes things like black side pillars, rugged side body claddings, prominent wheel arches encapsulating diamond cut 18-inch alloy wheels. Finally, the tail end is also busy with a full-width light bar, connecting the LED taillamps, a shark fin antenna, a roof-mounted spoiler, and a sturdy bumper with a massive metallic section to accentuate its boldness. All in all, the SUV will definitely make heads turn. Its dimensions are:

My View

The new Renault Duster has made a splashing return to the Indian market. Remember that it was the one product which created the mid-size SUV segment back in 2012. Over the years, it dominated the sales charts. With this return, the French automaker has brought a stronger product to rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, etc. in this segment. Once we know the pricing, it will highlight how the brand wants to position the new Duster.

Editor’s Note

Yatharth Chauhan, Managing Editor

I’ve seen the Duster evolve from a segment-creator in 2012 to an opportunity missed over the last few years, and this comeback feels far more calculated and mature. Renault has clearly studied where the Indian mid-size SUV market stands today, powertrain diversity, tech depth and safety credibility are no longer optional. The inclusion of a strong hybrid and India-specific engineering tells me Renault isn’t chasing volumes blindly, but relevance. Ultimately, pricing will decide its fate, but on paper, the new Duster finally looks equipped to reclaim lost ground against the Creta–Seltos brigade.
