Yamaha has launched a refreshed version of it’s SZ-RR 150 cc bike with an updated engine featuring blue core technology which made it’s debut on the FZ/FZ-S Version 2.0 launched a couple of months ago. The bike dubbed the Yamaha SZ-RR Version 2.0 was launched in Chennai at the grand finale of Yamaha’s “Mission 10,000 km” ride conducted by Yamaha. The motorcycle will be available at dealerships this festive season at an asking price of Rs. 65,300 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The most significant update seen on the Yamaha SZ-RR Version 2.0 is the introduction of the reworked version of the older 153 cc motor with Blue Core Technology. The latest version which already does duty on the FZ/FZ-S Version 2.0 has a capacity of 149 cc and develops 12.1 PS of maximum power and 12.8 Nm peak torque mated to a 5 speed transmission.
The introduction of Blue Core technology enhances fuel efficiency by 11% and adds smoothness to the package. However, the Yamaha SZ-RR Version 2.0 does not get fuel injection like the FZ/FZ-S and makes use of a traditional carburetor. Other updates include better quality switchgear, and engine kill switch, SZ logo on the handlebar holder and tubeless tyres. The motorcycle is available in three colours- Red Dash, Ivory White and Green Arrow.
Speaking at the launch Roy Kurian, vice president, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd, said, “It is our pleasure to be launching the all new SZ-RR version 2.0 this festive season at the closing ceremony of our successful endeavour of Mission 10,000km. With our breakthrough technology, Blue Core, now inducted to our successful SZ-RR model, we want to present our customers with advanced choices and fun riding in the city. Looking at the demand for standard segment commuter motorcycles which is projected at 1.1 million units in 2014, it was indeed ideal for us to delight customers in this segment with the launch of SZ-RR Version 2.0.”
The Yamaha SZ-RR Version 2.0 will compete with entry level 150 cc bikes such as the Bajaj Discover 150, Honda CB Unicorn and Suzuki GS 150R.
