After scorching the Rajpath in New Delhi, the Sealink in Mumbai and driving a Formula 1 car on the highest motorable pass in the world, Khardung-La in Leh, Red Bull Formula 1 Show Run recently landed in Hyderabad. The location chosen was the scenic Necklace Road that runs along the Hussain Sagar lake. The Formula 1 car on duty was the RB7, with which Sebastian Vettel secured the 2011 world championship racking up 12 wins in the process, piloted by ex-F1 driver David Coulthard from Scotland. He is also one of the most experienced driver with 246 grand prix starts to his name and 13 wins. What made the show even better was the opening act by two-time European Stunt Riding Champion Arลซnas Gibieลพa from Lithuania. The event was flagged off by popular Telugu movie star, Nagarjuna along with a few other dignitaries.
The 25 year old stunt biker opened the act with some insane stunts which got the crowd going. Wheelies, stoppies, donuts and a set of totally insane stunts which made you wonder, โHow the hell is he doing all that?โ was worth the wait in the scorching heat. ย His God-like bike control set the tone for the main event which involved a 740bhp monster screaming down the road burning rubber and drowning out the crowdโs loud cheers. David Coulthard, who ended his career with the Red Bull Racing Formula 1 team, came out all guns blazing with lightning quick acceleration runs, burnouts and the best of all, doughnuts. The RB7, being, four seasons old had the older V8 unit which meant the fast got to experience just how loud those machines actually are and they sure werenโt disappointed.
Red Bull had saved the best bit for last and you could sense the excitement build up as they started spreading colour all over the road, getting ready to kick up some multi-coloured dust with the machine. After a few burnouts DC lined up the gorgeous RB7 for the final act. What do you get when you perform doughnuts over coloured powder spread out on the road? Art. Sort of multidimensional live art, the smell of burning rubber, the sound of a V8 revving at 18,000 rpm of a gorgeous F1 car that once ruled the tracks. It was one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen and it made for a fitting end to a glorious Sunday morning. For a couple of hours Red Bull took over the city of Nizams and gave hundreds of screaming spectators a taste of the incredible world of motorsports.
