Test mules of the upcoming Trailblazer were caught on camera on Indian roads recently. This could mean the 2017 model will arrive in showrooms before the end of 2016. Since the Trailblazer is imported to India as a CBU, the facelift shouldn’t take too long to come to India. Also, GM India recently announced that they will be shifting their focus to popular segments including SUV/crossover segments. Chevrolet will kick off 2017 with the launch of the new 2017 MY Beat, Beat Activ and Essentia compact sedan. Initially, the launch of the Trailblazer was supposed to be followed by that of the Spin MPV. However, those plans have been put on hold for now.

GM India might consider introducing a 4×4 variant of the Trailblazer. That could cost around INR 29 lakhs. The current model retails in LTZ trim with an automatic transmission and no four wheel drive for INR 26.99 lakhs (ex-showroom, New Delhi).

The 2017 MY Trailblazer will not witness too many mechanical changes. It will continue to draw power from the 2.8 L Diesel that powers the current SUV. This engine churns out 197 BHP and 500 Nm. Transmission options include a 6-speed automatic. Also, the Trailblazer for India does not get anย optional four wheel drive. The only noteworthy mechanical change will be the introduction of an electrically power assisted steering or EPAS.

The 2017 Chevrolet Trailblazer gets a new face. The biggest changes here are –

The tail of the SUV is identical to the current model’s rear end. It features the same wraparound rear windscreen, LED tail lamps and some chrome garnish over the number plate. The only significant change here is the addition of more prominent rear spoiler lip. The new Chevrolet Trailblazer 2017 will also feature a new alloy wheel design. The other colors will include White Summit, Red Chili, Switchblade Silver and Gray Graphite. The new facelift will also introduce a fresh DNA for the brand globally.

New Trailblazer’s cabin features some very significant changes. The dashboard design is all new and comes wrapped in a combination of black and beige with chrome inserts. The centre console gets a new look. The circular climate control setup has been ditched in favour of a more conventional horizontal unit. The vertical AC vents now feature chrome surrounds. There is also an updated version of the MyLink touchscreen infotainment system. There is a new instrument console on offer that replaces the hooded instrument binnacle of the outgoing model. Chevrolet has carried over the steering wheel unaltered.

The facelift will continue to employ the same 2.8 L Duramax diesel engine as the current model. This engine churns out 197 BHP and 500 Nm. The engine comes mated to a 6 speed automatic transmission. Chevrolet did not launch the earlier Trailblazer with an optional 4×4 system. However, they might consider launching it on the new 2017 Trailblazer. Mileage figures should hover around the 12 km/l ย mark. International markets also get a 3.0 L V6 Petrol engine, but that one is unlikely to make it to India.
