Hyundai is one car maker that has been tasting success in almost all car markets it steps in. In India, the Korean auto giant is second only to the rather formidable Maruti Suzuki. That said, the Indian subsidiary of the manufacturer has been regular at eating into the sales of India’s leading car company. While Hyundai has established itself pretty well in major car markets, it is also doing well in many other emerging markets. Recently it launched the Tucson Sport trim in South Africa. Now, the manufacturer has plans to come up with the Hyundai Creta Sport model for Brazil. The Sport trim of theย Hyundai Creta will be based on the Brazil-spec version and comes with some new upgrades that enhance the appeal of this small SUV.

Akin to the standard variant, the Creta Sport comes with a 2.0-litre gasoline engine. However, Hyundai insists that the new trim is aimed at those looking for more style and a sense of power in the small SUV. The standard Creta had its launch in Brazil at the start of this year. The new 2017 Hyundai Creta Sport could come with several cosmetic upgrades such as a black roof, black alloy wheels and smoke-effect headlamp clusters. The special model could even come with a body kit to further lend a touch of sportiness to this car. The interior will remain largely the same. However, we expect an upholstery change and probably an all-black treatment for added sportiness. All the upgrades will be merely cosmetic and there won’t be a change in the specifications.

In Brazil, the Creta is on sale with 1.6-litre Dual CVVT and 2.0-litre Dual CVVT engines. The Creta Sport 2017 will be available only with the 2.0-litre unit engine. It will come mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. This four-cylinder petrol motor outputs a max. power of 156 HP and a peak torque of 187.31 Nm when run only on petrol. It can also run on ethanol based fuel, on which it outputs 166 HP and 201.04 Nm.

In India, the Creta is available with a set of Petrol and Diesel engines. We’re expecting the manufacturer to come up with the 2018 Hyundai Creta facelift at the Auto Expo 2018. Right now, there are slim chances of the Hyundai Creta Sport making it to India. That said, the manufacturer could still launch this special edition here at a much later stage in a bid to further enhance the appeal of its SUV. The Creta facelift shall launch next year and will come with a set of cosmetic upgrades. It is also likely to bring in some additional features and price revisions. In terms of looks, the Creta facelift is the same model that went on sale in Brazil earlier this year. Compared to the India-spec model it possesses a slightly different nose and an updated motif for the taillamps. It might also come with new design alloy wheels.

Hyundai Creta Sport Model India Launch Details

The launch prospects of the Hyundai Creta Sport in India look pretty bleak at the moment. However, let’s not forget that this Sport trim is based on the Brazil-spec model. Once India gets the Creta facelift, which will look much like the SUV on sale in the South American country, we can expect Hyundai to launch the Sport model in India at a slightly later stage. It may be noted here that such special editions often go a long way in enhancing the appeal of a product. Hence, bringing this limited edition trim to India at a later time to further boost the appeal of this hot selling small SUV makes a lot of sense.

The Hyundai Creta facelift could launch at the Auto Expo 2018

Currently, we’re expecting the launch of the Creta facelift at the Auto Expo 2018. The Creta facelift will look much like its Brazil market version and will get a host of small styling updates. It could also get some new features and revised prices. Right now, the Creta is the highest selling SUV in its facelift. The advent of the facelift should further help this model consolidate its position in the Indian market. What do you think? Should Hyundai India bring the Sport model to us as well? Do share your views in the comments section below. Also, stay tuned for launch and price details of the 2018 Creta facelift.
