Tata Sierra EV Seen Hanging From Rooftop

The large electric SUV has become quite popular in our market in recent times

In a rather creative and eye-catching marketing endeavour, the Tata Sierra EV was spotted hanging mid-air using a spider web. This was part of the movie promotion for Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Sierra EV features in a heavily contested market segment with top rivals like the Mahindra BE 6, Mahindra XEV 9e, MG Hector Tomahawk, Kia Carens Clavis, etc. To stand apart from that crowd, the Indian auto giant has equipped the electric SUV with tons of new-age tech and convenience amenities. Let us take a look at the details of this latest occurrence.

Tata Sierra EV Hanging From Rooftop

This video stems from rudramotors.tml on Instagram. The visuals capture a rather unique and interesting event. We see an actual Tata Sierra EV hanging from an extension using a thick network of spider web. As per the information in the post, this comes from somewhere in Pune, Maharashtra. In recent weeks, we saw Spider-Man promotions taken to a whole new level across the nation. This was a part of that campaign, where this massive SUV was being suspended in the air. Obviously, appropriate precautions would’ve been taken to accomplish this feat. Nevertheless, it certainly brings out the creative side of the advertising world.

The Tata Sierra EV is available with two battery options – 63 kWh and 75 kWh. Both feature liquid cooling and an IP67 rating to ensure effective thermal management and improved durability. The 63 kWh version produces 238 PS and 315 Nm, while the larger 75 kWh unit is offered in two configurations. The single-motor version develops 209 PS and 315 Nm, whereas the dual-motor Quad Wheel Drive (QWD) variant pumps out an impressive 306 PS and 504 Nm. Tata claims a C75 real-world range of 440-460 km with the smaller battery and 510-530 km with the larger unit. Meanwhile, the QWD version is expected to deliver around 480-500 km on a full charge. These range figures should make the Sierra EV well suited to long-distance journeys as well as everyday use.

Charging times are equally noteworthy. Tata Motors claims that a sufficiently powerful DC fast charger – above 110 kW/261 A for the 63 kWh battery and above 120 kW/330 A for the 75 kWh pack – can charge the battery from 20% to 80% in just 26 minutes. With a 7.2 kW AC charger, charging from 10% to 100% takes around 8.9 hours for the 63 kWh version and 10.5 hours for the 75 kWh model. Performance is another strong point, with the range-topping variant capable of accelerating from 0-100 km/h in just 5.8 seconds when Boost mode is engaged. Tata has also equipped the Sierra EV with its Ultra Glide suspension featuring Frequency Dependent Damping. This setup is designed to offer a comfortable ride over broken roads while retaining good stability and composure at higher speeds. Currently, the prices range between Rs 18.79 lakh and Rs 26.48 lakh, ex-showroom.

Editor’s Note

The Tata Sierra EV has been making quite an impact in the electric SUV space, and this rather unusual Spider-Man-themed promotional stunt certainly adds to its visibility. Seeing a full-size Sierra EV suspended from a rooftop using a web-inspired setup is not something you come across every day, but it shows how creatively automakers can use popular culture to grab attention. Beyond the marketing, the Sierra EV has a strong technical package, with two battery options, multiple powertrain configurations and an impressive claimed real-world range. With the range-topping QWD version also offering 306 PS and 504 Nm, the Sierra EV certainly has the performance and technology to stand out in an increasingly competitive segment. – Yatharth Chauhan, Managing Editor
