The all-new 2018 Honda Civic is expected to launch in India this year. The same model delivers 29 kmpl of average fuel consumption in the European cycle.

Honda Cars India has planned several new launches for the nation this year. The all-new Honda Amaze will be the first offering from the carmaker to be launched in the coming months. Next up would be the most loved crossover in the entire world, the Honda CR-V that got a whole lot bigger and better. The new CR-V will offer 7 seats and will be powered by the new 1.6-litre twin turbo diesel engine churning out 160 bhp. To boost the economy and acceleration, the Honda CR-V might get a 9-speed automatic gearbox as well. The final launch planned by Honda for this year is the all-new 2018 Honda Civic which, for the first time, will be offered with a diesel engine. 2018 Honda Civic – Launch Price

The Honda Civic was one of the most futuristic looking vehicles in the Indian market until its sale was terminated. Now Honda is planning to reintroduce the new Civic in the nation along with a diesel engine. Honda has confirmed the launch of the new Civic in the 2018-19 financial year which means the new Civic will launch in India before March 2019. Expect the new Honda Civic to be priced between INR 15 lakh to INR 20 lakh. Honda recently even posted the all-new Civic on their Indian website confirming the launch for 2018 itself. The microsite mentions several accolades bagged by the Civic over the years, claiming its Honda’s largest selling global model.

2018 Honda Civic – Drivetrain

The upcoming 2018 Honda Civic will be offered with a petrol and a diesel engine. The petrol unit being the 1.8-litre iVtec unit that powers the sedan globally. The in-line four-cylinder petrol engine will produce 139 bhp of power at 6,500 rpm and 174 Nm of torque at 4,300 rpm. The engine will come mated to a revised 6-speed manual transmission unit and the top variant will get an option of CVT with paddle shifters.

The interesting half of the sedan is the new 1.6-litre iDtec diesel engine which is good for 160 bhp at 4,000 rpm and 300 Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm. The new diesel unit will be accompanied by a 6-speed manual for the entry-level variants while the top end variants are expected to get a 9-speed automatic transmission. The Honda Civic will be the first sedan in its segment to get the 9-speed automatic gearbox.

2018 Honda Civic – Fuel Economy

The all-new 2018 Honda Civic will feature a petrol and a diesel engine. The 1.8-lite petrol unit is expected to deliver around 12-14 kmpl while the new 1.6-litre diesel unit will deliver a whopping 29.41 kmpl. The diesel engine uses technologies like turbocharging and high strength chromium-molybdenum steel alloy pistons to achieve these staggering results.
