KTM Duke 125

KTM Duke 125 was recently launched and has already started gaining attention. Shifting Gears has made a video of its top speed and acceleration.

KTM Duke 125 is the entry-level naked bike from the brand. Just like the other KTM bikes, this one is also a pure performance oriented 125cc machine. At a price of Rs 1.18 Lakhs, it is the cheapest performance bike.

Duke 125 replaced Yamaha R15 as the least-powered performance motorcycle in production. However, even a low-powered KTM has its own pros and cons.

The deliveries of KTM Duke 125 have already begun and around 457 units of the same have been sold in November. Since the motorcycle was introduced in the last week of November, the figures are pretty good.

We have this video of the KTM Duke 125, where Shifting Gears has test ridden the bike for its top speed and acceleration figures. He has carried out multiple attempts for a better and sure result.

In the first attempt, KTM Duke 125 achieved a top-speed of 110 km/hr. In the second and third attempt, the top speed recorded was around 107 km/hr. By the final attempt, the record touched 108 km/hr.

A top speed of 110 km/hr is far beyond the capacity of 125cc bikes and even many 150cc bikes. Usually, most of the 125cc scooter try to touch 100 km/hr.

Now talking about its acceleration figures, don’t get your hopes high. Of course, it is a Duke but a 125cc one.

KTM Duke 125 manages to sprint from 0-60 km/hr in about 6 seconds, 0-80 km/hr in about 8 seconds, but 0-100 km/hr in roughly 21 seconds. In various attempts, the 0-100 km/hr sprint took around 25 seconds.

The huge difference between the figures is because since its a 125cc bike, after 80 km/hr, the engine is nearing the red line. For going above 80 km/hr, you have to find a proper empty road.

KTM Duke 125 comes with a 125cc liquid-cooled engine that puts out 15 BHP and 12 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox.

It gets front and rear disc brake with single-channel ABS as standard fitments. For suspension, it uses WP Upside-Down forks in the front and mono-shock absorber at the rear.

The looks and design are inspired by Duke 200 and Duke 390. As you see, identical styling bits are used over the body. Duke 125 also uses the fully digital instrument cluster from Duke 200.

Other features include halogen headlamps, LED headlights and Split seats. Duke 125 is offered in Black, White and Orange colour options.
