2019 Hyundai Elantra Spotted In India; Launch Expected By Festive Season

The upcoming Hyundai Elantra will see major chunks of the changes on the exteriors and the interiors. There won’t be any mechanical changes but we expect the engine to be BS-6 compliance.

2019 Hyundai Elantra has been spied in India and is gearing up its launch by festive season this year. The new Elantra is more than just minor cosmetic changes and will complete with Honda Civic as its rival. Other cars like Toyota Corolla Altis and Skoda Octavia are also seen as its competition.

The 2019 Hyundai Elantra, when launched in India, will get a variety of changes on the front, rear and inside the cabin. For starters, it gets a triangular-shaped headlamp, a new and slim cascading grille, new bonnet, restyled front and rear bumpers, sporty alloy wheels and LED taillamps.

The interiors of the D-segment sedan will also see revised changes like a new multi-function steering wheel and an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A revised instrument cluster and the new switchgear will also be seen.

The Elantra could also feature the BlueLink Technology which comes in the Venue. Additional safety features like Hyundai SmartSense could come in place which offers Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Driver Attention Alert and Lane Keep Assist. Six-Airbags, ABS with EBD and ESP, Traction Control, Seat Belt Reminders are some of the features which will be carry forwarded from the ongoing trim.

The powertrain options will remain the same as it will get the same 1.6-litre turbocharged diesel engine and a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol motor. Transmission options include a 6-speed AT and 6-speed manual gearbox.

The diesel motor produces 126 bhp with a peak torque of 260 Nm and the petrol churns out 150 bhp with 191 Nm of torque. We can expect the upcoming Elantra to come with BS-VI compliance engines.

The new Hyundai Elantra could boost up the sales of the car as it competes with the popular Honda Civic, the sedan which sees a monthly sales of 250 units. The Elantra which stood out at just 60 units for the month of June 2019. That said, the new model could see a growth in sales and the company can retaliate to its competition.
