Toyota Vellfire India Launch Confirmed For October

The six-seater premium MPV, Toyota Vellfire, will directly compete with Mercedes V-Class which is already doing good in India.

Toyota Vellfire is set to be launched in India by October this year. The Japanese automakers recently showcased their premium people movers at some dealerships in Bengaluru. The Vellfire is named as Alphard in global markets, the only change is that the latter is a sportier-looking than the one which will launch in India.

Toyota Vellfire will be brought in through Completely built-up unit (CBU) route and will compete with Mercedes V-class. It is expected to be priced upwards of Rs 70 lakh, making it the premium MPV in the market.

The front fascia of the Toyota Vellfire sees split LED headlamp design and DRLs, restyled grille and front bumper and triangular housing with foglamps. It is expected that foglights will be projector based.

One gets proper electronic sliding side doors, choice of beige and black interiors and executive seats for the middle row. The seats are ventilated, powered and can be reclined according to the buyers need.

It also comes with a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, 360-degree surround-view camera and an entertainment package with a 10.2-inch screen for rear-seat passengers. Two sunroofs, three-zone automatic climate control, mood lighting and individual tray tables are some of the highlights of the expensive MPV.

The Toyota Vellfire comes with loaded safety features like seven airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control, digital full display mirror with a wider field of view, blind spot detection system, rear cross-traffic alert, brake hold and among others.

Toyota Vellfire will sport a 2.5-litre dual VVTi engine with an electric motor too. The combined power output limits to 145 bhp and transmission onboard is a CVT gearbox.

With the relaxation of homologation rule for imported vehicles, Toyota only plans to bring in 200 units of the Vellfire to Indian shores. The six-seat MPV will launch in October 2019.
