Bajaj Platina 100 ES New Model launch to happen in this quarter

Back in late 2014, we reported about the sighting of a camouflaged Bajaj Platina test mule, which was an indicator enough of the fact that the Bajaj Platina new model launch is in the offing. Now, we’ve learnt that the Bajaj Platina new model launch has officially taken place! Christened as the Bajaj Platina 100 ES, the new model has been launched to re-vitalize the sales performance of the Platina brand of commuter motorcycles. It maybe noted that the Bajaj Platina, which is an entry-level model in BAL‘s product portfolio, has clocked decent sales in the past. However, all thanks to the advent of some newer rivals, times have changed for this humble Bajaj offering. Now, Bajaj is hoping that with the introduction of the new model, the low-cost commuter would get a new lease of life. Here are all the details we have related to the Bajaj Platina new model launch.

The new bike has already reached the dealerships and here are some new Bajaj Platina 100 ES spy pics from a Bajaj dealership

As can be seen, gone is the black-tinted front visor and the Platina 100 ES gets a Honda Shine-like fully painted front bikini fairing. The bike also gets a new look for the side panels and the exhaust. The new model will go on sale in Ebony Black, Electron Blue and Candy Red

With the launch of the new Bajaj Platina 100ES, Bajaj has kickstarted its product offensive for the year 2015. Rajiv Bajaj recently revealed to media that his company plans to launch at least six new models in the coming months and the latest Platina model becomes first of the new bikes from Pune-based bike maker. Bajaj hopes that the new Platina will boost the monthly sales from this brand to 80,000 units in domestic market.

The new Bajaj Platina 100 ES price has been kept at INR 44.507 (ex-showroom, New Delhi).

Technical Details

As seen in the pics, the Platina 100 ES new model will get Bajaj’s patented DTSi technology. It also gets an electric-start. It maybe noted that currently, the Platina doesn’t come with DTSi engine and the introduction of a new DTSi motor should lead to a significant rise in power figures of the Platina. There are chances that the Platina ES will get a 102cc engine that will have a max power of 8.2 BHP and peak torque of 8.7 Nm. While the bike has a top speed of 91 kmph, braking duties come from 110 mm drum brakes at both the end.

  3. I am a proud owner of the new bajaj platina 100es and hav bought the bike just 6 months back n am happy coz i get mileage around 73-75 in city conditions and whopping 91 on highways…..fuel tank is 13l capacity and one full tank last me almost 745kms……so, great mileage and pickup too but rough riding and accelarating in all gears to the brim is not recommended as its a mileage bike…..

  4. I am a proud owner of old Platina alloy wheel kick start bought in July-2006. I used to get a very good mileage initially >90 kmpl. Gradually it reduces to 70kmpl and now I get 60kmpl after 11 years without any trouble. I did rebore after 60000 kms since i was hearing mild rubbing noise but Bike never let me down anywhere because of engine problem. Problem was due to my rough use. I rode the bike 150 km X 2 stretch from Bangalore to Mysore in 2hrs at top speed without any break for around 12 weekends(3600 kms). I just did Oil change, nothing else for engine. Still great going. I use Valvoline oil which can be changed after 4000km as compared to other oil-2000 kms. I trust & love this bike.
