Earlier this year it was reported that Bajaj Auto is working on new commuter motorcycle Platina. Nowย the two test mules of new 2015 Bajaj Platina 100cc commuter were caught testing for the first time in Pune. It looks like Bajaj is close to launching the 2015 Platina soon.

By looking at the images, it can be interpreted that Bajaj has not come up with a completely new model. Out of the two new mules found being tested, one is heavilyย camouflaged while the other is complete undisguised. Some elements of the motorcycle have not been changed. The 2015 Platina gets theย same headlight, tail light cluster, turn indicators, telescopic fork in the front , drum brakes and alloy wheels which are present in the existing version of Platina 100cc. New body graphics or new body panels are expected. The camouflaged Platina gets few aesthetic changes while undisguised Platina looks same as the current Platina.

2015 Bajaj Platina 100-1

The existing version of Platina gets aย ย 4 stroke, natural air cooled engine which churns outย 8.2 Pf ย of maximum power at 7500 rpmย andย 8.05 Nm ย of peak torque atย 4500 rpm weighingย 113 kg, while stopping power comes from drum brakes at the front and rear.

The competition among motorcycles in the market is quite stiff, and Bajaj seems to be moving with a faster pace. The 100cc Platina was introduced in 2006 and it has not received any major upgrade since then and to remain competitive in the market, Bajaj is now testing its new models on Indian roads. 2015 Platina could be expected to get a refined engine providing better fuel efficiency and higher performance.

2015 Bajaj Pulsar 150 andย Pulsar 200 SS have been tested on Indian roads for quite some time now and are expected to ย be launched in the coming months.

The currentย Platina 100cc with spoke wheel is priced at Rs. 37,044 and the 2015 Platina 100 is expected to be launched in mid 2015 in the similar price range. The competitors ofย current Platina 100 areย Hero Passion and Hero Splendor. We hope that with the launch of these two new bikes, Bajaj will be able to face the stiff competition in the commuter motorcycles segment in a better manner.

Stay tuned for more details onย these new test mules of Bajaj Platina.
