The new BMW 5-series facelift will get some minor cosmetic changes to both the exterior and the interior but most importantly, it will get a new hybrid engine.
BMW is having a slew of launches here in India and they are introducing new-generation models as well as all-new vehicles all-together. While the present generation 5-series was launched just about two years ago, a new camouflaged 5-series has already been spotted testing internationally. BMW is prepping for a facelift of the 5-series and this time around, it will also be coming with a hybrid engine.
This new facelift is only expected to feature some minor cosmetic changes as the test mule spotted was wearing minimal camouflage only on the face and the rear of the car. There will be minor revisions to headlamp units and some revisions to the front bumper as well. Given BMW’s fascination with their new grille, the 5-series might also get the new treatment but the test mule here was not sporting the new grille.
On the rear, a similar set of updates can be expected in the form of a revised bumper and some revisions to the tail lamps as well. On the inside, the cabin in expected to see some minor changes, primarily an update to the infotainment software. We might also see BMWs new interior design language with this new facelift to the 5-series.

However, the bigger news is from under the hood. BMW will be launching a new hybrid engine in the 5-series facelift. BMW already has a hybrid variant called the 530e in the 5-series range which gets a 2.0-litre petrol engine mated to an electric motor, producing about 250 bhp. This facelift could see the bigger 3.0-litre, straight-six, engine being introduced with an electric motor, producing something about 350 bhp.

This new facelifted BMW 5-series is expected to break cover sometime around the end of this year or in early 2020 internationally. In India, the BMW 5-series goes against the likes of the Mercedes-Benz e Class, the Jaguar XF and the Audi A6.
