The mid-size SUV from the French car marque makes things interesting for safety ratings-conscious buyers
The Citroen Aircross has achieved a score of 5 stars at the Bharat NCAP. With this, it becomes yet another mid-size SUV to boast this rating. We know that new-age customers want the absolute top safety amenities in their cars. In fact, that is the reason why carmakers have become so particular about the latest active and passive safety functionalities in their models. Citroen Aircross Gets 5-Star Safety Rating at Bharat NCAP
The Citroen Aircross bagged a full 5-star safety rating at the Bharat NCAP in both Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and Child Occupant Protection (COP) categories. Talking specifically, it scored 27.05 points out of 32 in AOP and 40 points out of 49 in COP. The standard equipment list includes 6 airbags, ISOFIX child seat mounts at the rear, seatbelt load-limiter, Electronic Stability Control (ESC) (UN GTR No.8 / UNECE R140 / AIS-133), pedestrian protection (AIS-100) and seatbelt reminder (AIS-145). These features ensure a 5-star rating in both sections.
Delving a bit deeper, in the AOP department, the Aircross secured 11.05 points out of 16 in the Frontal Offset Deformable Barrier Test and 16 points out of 16 in the Side Movable Deformable Barrier Test. Furthermore, the Side Pole Impact Pole Test was rated ‘OK’. On the other hand, the COP section boasts a Dynamic Score of 24 out of 24, a CRS Installation Score of 12 out of 12 and a Vehicle Assessment Score of 4 out of 13. Note that both child seat mounts are rearward facing. All this results in full scores in both departments.

The Citroen Aircross carries two engine options – a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol mill, which produces a decent 83 PS and 115 Nm or a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder turbo petrol unit, which belts out a healthy 110 PS and 190 Nm (205 Nm with the automatic transmission) of peak power and torque, respectively. Performing transmission duties are 6-speed manual or automatic gearboxes. At present, the prices range from Rs 8.32 lakh to Rs 14.10 lakh, ex-showroom. These are extremely competitive prices in comparison to the other mid-size SUVs in this segment.
