Ducati has confirmed the India launch of Hypermotard 950 for next week. The ‘Supermoto’ gets lighter, a revised chassis and better electronics aids.
Ducati Hypermotard is a hipster looking motorcycle from the Italian, which is a big fusion motorcycle. The chassis and styling are of a dirt bike, but the engine and the performance is something of a performance motorcycle.
India currently has the Hypermotard 939, which is going to be replaced by the bigger 950. The Ducati Hypermotard 950 India launch is scheduled for 12th June. The updated motorcycle gets new equipment and electronic aids onboard.
It continues with the same 937cc Testastretta L-Twin cylinder engine from the 939. However, the engine now produces 114.2 BHP and 96 Nm of peak torque. The figures have increased by 4 BHP and 1 Nm.
The engine has been revamped to provide a better low-end performance. Hypermotard 950 also gets a hydraulic-actuated slipper clutch for better gear shifting.
Revisions to the chassis include a new and lighter steel trellis frame, making it lighter by 4 kgs. The engine is also lighter by 1.5 kgs than the Hypermotard 939. It continues with the single-piece handlebar and rear set footpegs.
Ducati Hypermotard 950 now gets a fully digital TFT screen from the Panigale V4. So, you get the Ducati Multimedia System (DMS), three-level Bosch Cornering ABS, Ducati Traction Control and Ducati Wheelie Control.
Riding modes offered include Sport, Touring and Urban. The TFT console shows message alert, call alert, music and much more. For the rider’s comfort, the seat is a bit slimmer and the tank shrouds have been reduced.
For suspension, Hypermotard 950 gets 45mm Marzocchi fully-adjustable forks at the front and a monoshock from Sach at the back. Braking power comes from twin 320mm discs at the front and a single 245mm disc at the back with cornering ABS.
The current Hypermotard starts from Rs 11.70 Lakhs. So, we can see the Ducati Hypermotard 950 priced from Rs 12.5 Lakhs (estimate) in India. It faces no competition as such.
