This guy tried drifting his Maruti Swift on a busy traffic road but ended up crashing it. Here’s why you should try to avoid doing such stunts on public roads.
All automotive enthusiasts have a knack for drifting and have tried doing it at least once in their time. While we may not have many budget cars with Rear Wheel Drive, we Indians consider handbrake turns as drifting. However, we need to understand that the Indian roads are not suitable for this because of our crazy driving habits.
Take this guy for example. On the busy roads of a city in Kerala, this owner of Maruti Swift is trying to do sudden handbrake turns. You can see him revving the engine hard and gaining higher than considerate speeds amidst the public road. What he does is basically, he reaches a certain speed and suddenly tries turning the car at that speed.

After a couple of tries, the driver loses control of the car and ends up crashing into a an electric pole. On a straight stretch, he tries taking a hand brake turn but misjudges the handling. All the wheels ended up being locked as the car spiralled out of control. Luckily, the driver was alone inside and did not suffer any injury.
The damage is also not that huge because only the side fender has been damaged. After some seconds, you can see the driver opening the door which clearly shows the damage is limited to a certain part. Possibly, the alloy wheels might have also received some impact as it cannot be seen post the accident.
First of all, all these stunts are illegal to do on public roads. People are walking on that road and if he would have ended up knocking off some person, he could be in a greater trouble. If the police had been nearby, they could have fined the driver for creating nuisance and driving rashly.

In India, the driving conditions are not favourable even for going at high speeds. People do not use indicators, suddenly change lanes and take unnecessary cuts. It is always to stay in a decent speed limit where you are confident about your handling.
