For those who are buying the soft top convertible variant of the new Mahindra Thar, here is a quick explanatory video of the process.
The bookings for the new Mahindra Thar has commenced across the country, just after the prices were announced. The off-roader is now priced from Rs 9.80 Lakhs up to Rs 13.75 Lakhs (ex-showroom), making the price tag right on point. It comes in three roof top versions including a Hard top roof, a soft top roof and a removable soft top (convertible).
A convertible off-roading SUV sounds very exciting and especially at such an affordable price. We are sure, many buyers might have booked the Soft Top Convertible version which only comes on the LX trims. For those buyers, here is a video which shows how to remove the soft top to make it a convertible.
The roof is actually a fabric material which you can remove only in the convertible variant. First, you have to unzip the rear windscreen area of the rooftop. Then, you have to unhook the roof for which you can find the clips inside the cabin, just behind the roll-over bar. Then just take the roof, open it up and fold it nicely to fit in the boot.
There you have your new Mahindra Thar convertible ready. For closing, you have to do the same process first take the roof and stretch it till the roof is covered. Then go inside the cabin, put on the clips and you are done. In the regular soft-top version, you do not get these clips to remove the roof covering.
Although, if you take it to your mechanic and after removing some nuts and bolts, you can even make the hardtop into a convertible. However, the entire process will take a long time and will also be chargeable. This entire process on a Convertible will take just a couple of minutes without the help of anyone.
