Hyundai Creta Sports Edition Launch Soon – What it could get more?

Hyundai to being a Sports Edition of Creta by September this year. The mid-size SUV competes with the likes of Tata Harrier, Mahindra XUV500, MG Hector and Kia Seltos.

The new Hyundai Creta is expected to be unveiled at the 2020 Auto Expo, India and looks like the South Korean manufacturer will bring a sports edition before the new model gets launched next year.

It will be launched in September and the model will boost up the sales and increase its market in the affordable SUV segment. When it gets launched, Creta is more likely to get some cosmetic changes and ditch the mechanical changes which is present in the international markets.

Hyundai Creta sports edition will carry an all-black theme limited to the colour, hexagonal grille up front and the SUV will sit on 17-inch alloy wheels. A gloss black bumper, black roof-mounted spoiler and black ORVM’s will add a fancy look to the SUV.

The cabin of the Creta will carry an all-black theme inside, ‘sports’ door sills and black seats. Features like a large touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will remain the same. Although, the addition of BlueMedia interface can be added which also supports Digital TV.

Currently, Hyundai Creta offers Smart Key Band, wireless phone charging, Tilt Steering, Smart Key and Engine Start/Stop Button, front ventilated seats and more. Safety features onboard include 6-Airbags, Antilock Braking System with EBD, Vehicle Stability Management, Hilll Start Assist Control, Rear Parking Sensors and more.

Under the hood, the sports edition gets a 2.0-litre DVVT petrol engine which churns out 156 bhp with a peak torque of 187 Nm. The same engine generates 166 bhp and 210 Nm of torque when powered by ethanol. Transmission options include a 6-speed AT gearbox.

The engine above will only be available in the international market and the Creta Sports will come in the 1.6-litre petrol and turbocharged 1.6L diesel engines. In addition to the cosmetic changes, the sports edition might get a new suspension setup which reduces the body roll around the corners and gives a better driving experience.

Talking about the prices, in Brazil, the Hyundai Creta Sports Edition is priced at BRL 98,990 which is equal to Rs 17.40 lakh in India. It is likely to sit on the top of the line trims and is expected to see a price of Rs 16.11 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) since it does not get any changes under the hood.
