Jawa Perak

On its first anniversary, Jawa Motorcycles is going to launch its third offering, the Perak. The factory-custom Bobber motorcycle was unveiled last year.

Jawa Motorcycles made a comeback in India in November 2018 with 3 new motorcycles. Jawa and Forty-Two were launched in India, whereas Perak was unveiled and its prices were revealed.

Perak is a factory-custom Bobber motorcycle. Back in the 1950s, the original Perak was retailed in the European markets. Bobber motorcycles are basically customized motorcycles with short fenders and exposed body parts.

Now, Jawa motorcycles has confirmed the launch of Perak through media invites. On the very day that Jawa made a comeback in India, the company will re-launch the iconic Perak name in a modern factory-custom Bobber motorcycle.

Earlier, Classic Legends stated that the deliveries of Jawa Perak will commence by June 2019. However, due to to the huge waiting period of Jawa and Forty-Two, its launch was pushed back. The bike is priced at Rs 1.89 Lakhs (ex-showroom), which was revealed last year itself.

Perak uses a slightly bigger engine, which is BS-6 compliant. The 334cc liquid-cooled DOHC engine is capable of delivering 30 BHP and 31 Nm of peak torque. The motor comes mated to a 6-speed transmission.

The feature list on board includes round halogen headlamps, a single cantilever seat, rear mirrors on the end of the handlebar, dual-ABS and completely blacked out body parts. The Bobber is equipped with front and rear disc brakes with dual-channel ABS support. It uses inverted forks at the front and a monoshock suspension at the back.

Meanwhile, the deliveries of Jawa and Forty-Two are still sluggish. The waiting period has effectively come down but all these issues have brought down the number of bookings. The waiting period as of now is around 4-5 months.

Currently, Jawa Perak receives no competition in its price range. However, it will continue to go against the likes of Royal Enfield bikes, Bajaj Dominar, Mahindra Mojo, which also come in a similar price range.
