Jeep India has launched a new three-row SUV in India called the Meridian. It combines power-packed specs with comfort and sophistication. The premium SUV is aimed at the automotive aficionados in the country. However, it retains the authentic Jeep DNA. While the deliveries will start on June 2022, the Jeep Meridian is likely to arrive in Jeep brand dealerships across India by mid-May. The Jeep Meridian is powered by a 2.0L Turbo-Diesel engine (170hp/ 350Nm) with a 9-speed automatic/ 6-speed manual powertrain. It will be available in 4X4 all-wheel drive and a 4X2 variant. The new model can go from 0 to 100kmph in 10.8 seconds. It can reach up to a top speed of 198kmph. Drive modes include Auto, Sand, Snow, and Mud.

On the other hand, the Jeep Compass is powered by a 1.4-liter turbo-petrol engine that offers 163PS of power and 250Nm of torque. A 2-litre diesel unit produces 172PS and 350Nm. Both engines are paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. However, while the turbo-petrol engine has a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic option, the diesel gets a 9-speed automatic option. The Jeep Meridian is based on a unibody architecture and comes with a spacious cabin that can accommodate up to seven passengers. It features a theatre-style “stadium” seating and a panoramic sunroof. On the outside, the three-row SUV features a distinct seven-slot grille, chrome inserts for the front bumper, roof rails, 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, trapezoidal wheel arches, and silver-colored faux skid plates. The Jeep Meridian also gets a new set of front and rear bumpers. It features wrap-around LED taillights, fog lights, LED headlamps with integrated LED DRLs, and an integrated spoiler with a high-mounted stop lamp. There is also horizontally placed reflectors on the rear bumper.

On the inside, the SUV gets a dual-tone brown and black upholstery, a 10.1-inch free-standing touchscreen infotainment system, a nine-speaker Alpine-sourced music system, a fully-digital instrument console, electrically-adjustable driver seat, electrically powered tailgate, ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, and wireless charging. Overall, the three-row SUV looks quite bold and stylish. It retains the authentic Jeep DNA of adventure and capability. The highlights include Front and Rear Independent Suspension and Composed Driving Dynamics. It also features reclinable second and third-row seats (up to 32 degrees).

Along with two engine options and four trims across 11 variants, the Jeep Compass is available in seven color options. It features the signature seven-box front grille with chrome inserts. A black horizontal air intake is added in the middle of the bumper (flanked by LED fog lamps. The mid-size SUV also gets sleek LED headlamps with integrated LED DRLs. The 18-inch alloys come with a new five-spoke two-tone design.

On the inside, the Jeep Compass features a floating 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an all-digital 10.2-inch instrument, a three-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel, front ventilated seats, a panoramic sunroof, power tailgate, cruise control, and wireless smartphone charging. Additionally, there are eight-way power-adjustable seats on the front. The driver side gets a memory function.
