The launch of the much-awaited Mahindra XUV 300 is due to happen in India tomorrow. This sub-4-meter compact SUV is expected to be priced in-between the range of INR 8 lakh to INR 12 lakh. It will compete against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon and the Ford EcoSport.

Unlike, the segment leader i.e. the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, the Mahindra XUV 300 will offer petrol as well as diesel engine options. The petrol derivative of this vehicle is going to be a 1.2-litre, turbocharged unit. It will churn out 110 BHP of power along with 200 Nm of peak torque.

The XUV 300 is going to get the same 1.5-litre diesel engine which is currently available in the Mahindra Marazzo. For this vehicle, however, the power output has been reduced to 115 BHP from 120 BHP. The torque figures remain the same at 300 Nm.

At the time of launch, the Mahindra XUV 300 is going to get just a 6-speed manual gearbox in its portfolio, for the petrol as well as the diesel engine. This means that there will be no automatic transmission option on offer. Though the automaker has not confirmed it as of yet, there have been several reports stating that the XUV 300 will get an AMT gearbox at a later stage.

The Mahindra XUV 300 is going to retail in India in a total of three different variants. In addition to this, there will be an additional optional variant sitting above the top-spec trim. This optional variant is aimed squarely at the base and mid-spec variants of the Hyundai Creta and the Nissan kicks.
