The video comes from suvblogindia and carblogindia on Instagram. It captures the real-life video of the XUV300. It is undergoing testing which is why it wears a heavy camouflage. At the front, there are prominent LED DRLs visible. These double up as turn indicators. The way they are designed gives a clear indication of the inspiration from the larger XUV700. These are C-shaped units compared to the 7-shaped ones in the existing model. Apart from that, the alloy wheel design is fresh too. At the rear, the XUV300 will get a connected LED taillamp cluster. But there are not many inferences we can draw from this video.

Beneath the hood, it’s likely that the XUV300 will retain its current powertrain configuration. It will feature the well-known 1.2-litre 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine available in two variants – one producing 110 hp and 200 Nm of power and torque, and the other delivering 130 hp and 230 Nm. Additionally, there’s a 1.5-litre diesel engine churning out 115 hp and 300 Nm. Both these engine options will come with a choice of a 6-speed manual transmission or an AMT gearbox. It will be interesting to see whether Mahindra decides to replace this AMT with a torque converter automatic. Presently, the XUV300 is priced between Rs 7.99 lakh and Rs 14.76 lakh, ex-showroom. The facelift will bear a slight premium over these prices.

The compact SUV segment contains products from all major mass-market carmakers in the country. This is down to the massive popularity of vehicles in this category. In essence, the buyers get a chance to own an SUV without burning huge amounts of cash. One gets the high ground clearance, large cabin, practical space and road presence of SUVs. That is the reason why almost every automaker is so successful in this segment. Mahindra understands that it needs to keep up with the competition. As a result, this facelift model will keep Mahindra’s contender in this space fresh.
