Mahindra XUV700 Front Three Quarters

XUV700 is the flagship model from the Indian automobile giant which has been doing greatly on the sales charts

The prices of the Mahindra XUV700 have been increased by up to Rs 50,000. XUV700 is the top-of-the-line 7-seat SUV which represents the best that Mahindra has to offer. It was an instant hit ever since it was first launched back in 2021. Over the years, it has even commenced sales in Australia and South Africa. Clearly, it has been a success across international markets. In India, it is available in close to 2 dozen variants. Hence, every buyer can go for the trim which makes the most sense for their needs.

Mahindra XUV700 Prices Increased

Just after the festive season, Mahindra has increased the prices of the XUV700 by up to Rs 50,000. Interestingly, these are majorly applicable to the lower trims including the base MX MT 5S trim with a petrol engine. Hence, if you bought the SUV during this festive season, you enjoyed great deals. I must also mention that the new year always brings price increases with it across the automobile industry. Perhaps, this is a precursor to that. Also, the upgraded avatar of the Mahindra XUV700 is already on the way. Therefore, I find this decision to increase the prices quite intriguing. Probably, Mahindra is preparing for the price cuts it will have to offer once the new model is here.

Increased Prices of Mahindra XUV700

Under the hood of the Mahindra XUV700, you will find two potent powertrain options – a 2.0-litre mStallion turbo petrol mill which churns out a ginormous 200 hp and 380 Nm and a 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine which is available in two states of tune – 155 hp / 360 Nm and 185 hp / 420 Nm (450 Nm with automatic transmission) of peak power and torque, respectively. Performing the transmission duties is either a 6-speed manual or an automatic gearbox. The top models include an all-wheel-drive configuration for off-roading excursions. After the price hike, the SUV retails between Rs 14.49 lakh and Rs 26.04 lakh, ex-showroom.

My View

The decision to increase the price of the car at the end of the year is quite interesting. Generally, you would find carmakers offer year-end discounts in the last month of the year. Also, we know that due to the rise in input costs and raw material costs, most car companies increase the prices of their products at the beginning of each year. Hence, people prefer to buy a car during the last few months of each year. However, with this price rise, I am curious to see how this impacts the sales.
