Maruti Victoris Lxi vs Vxi Comparison

Potential buyers often have to decide between the trims to get the most value for their money

In this post, we compare the base and second-from-base models, i.e., Lxi and Vxi, of the new Maruti Victoris. It is based on the Grand Vitara and sold through Maruti’s Arena outlets. The SUV gets a modern look along with features for comfort, safety, connectivity, and a choice of engines. With this model, Maruti Suzuki plans to reach buyers in smaller and distant parts of the country. It has also secured a full 5-star safety rating in Global NCAP tests. For now, let’s compare the two variants of the mid-size SUV.

Maruti Victoris Lxi vs Vxi – Price

The new Maruti Victoris base Lxi trim starts at Rs 10.50 lakh, ex-showroom. That is an exciting starting point to attract new customers. On the other hand, the Maruti Vxi starts at Rs 11.80 lakh, ex-showroom. Therefore, there is a difference of Rs 1.30 lakh between the two. This is quite a hefty gap. Let us find out if the additional features justify this price difference.

Maruti Victoris Lxi vs Vxi – Design

We come across the details of the design of the two models courtesy of CARS WITH ANURAG on YouTube. At the front, both these SUVs get a sleek LED DRL setup with slim halogen projector headlamps and a sporty bumper with a silver skid plate. On the sides, the Lxi trim boasts black door handles and ORVMs, while the Vxi comes with body-coloured units. All the other bits are identical on the models. However, the main difference is at the rear. The VXi version offers a connected LED taillamp bar, which runs the width of the car, whereas the Lxi avatar gets a piano black panel between the taillamps, which doesn’t illuminate. Apart from that, the SUVs look similar.

Maruti Victoris Lxi vs Vxi – Features

The most prominent distinction between the two variants of any car is the kind of features they get. In fact, customers make decisions primarily based on this aspect. This is particularly true when the powertrain alternatives are similar. In any case, the largest carmaker in the country has ensured that the Victoris is feature-laden across the range. The transmission duties are carried out by a 5-speed manual gearbox. Note that as the prices go up, the Vxi is also available with an automatic transmission and a strong hybrid engine. Also, both these trims can be purchased with a CNG mill. For this comparison, the engine and transmission choices on these are identical.

My View

Now, I understand that there is little to choose between these two compelling variants of the new Maruti Victoris. However, the price difference of Rs 1.30 lakh will surely put doubts in the minds of the buyers. One can argue that there are enough additional amenities on the Vxi to justify the premium. However, I feel the base trim is quite well-loaded to ensure that even the entry-level customers get useful functionalities. Therefore, it is a matter of preference and the flexibility with the budget. In any case, one can’t go wrong with either of these.
