In a rather strange turn of events, a Maruti WagonR was spotted with a Bajaj engine. Indians are famous for their creativity and the spirit of ‘Jugaad’. They can come up with unique concepts which would ease their everyday lives. The WagonR is among the most popular hatchbacks in our country ever. It has been around since 1999. What I find the most fascinating is its insane popularity even today. On the other hand, Bajaj Auto is among the largest two-wheeler manufacturers in the country. Its bikes are household names in our market. Let us see what happens when the popularity of these two automobiles combines.
Maruti WagonR Gets Bajaj Engine
The video comes from cars35media and mrkasganjhacker895425 on Instagram. The visuals capture a rather unbelievable configuration. A beaten old WagonR is being driven on the road. However, there is a Bajaj Discover 110 inside it. As per the information in this post, the engine of the Discover is somehow powering the WagonR. The owner has been somehow able to connect it with WagonR which results in mileage of a jaw-dropping 55 kmpl. That is what the bike generally used to offer. Now, I am not sure about the exact details of the construction of the strange contraption.
The Bajaj Discover 110 is no longer in production. It used to come powered by a decent 115.5-cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine which produced a healthy 8.5 hp and 9.81 Nm of peak power and torque. This engine was paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. The weight of the bike was 117 kg and it had an 8-litre fuel tank. Its mileage figure was somewhere around 65 kmpl. However, if it is powering this WagonR, that could drop down significantly. But I am not sure if there are any modifications made to this mill in this case.
Maruti WagonR – Specs and Price
In the latest iteration, the Maruti WagonR comes with multiple powertrain options. These include two petrol engines and a CNG variant. The first petrol mill is a 1.0-litre petrol engine which produces 66 PS and 89 Nm. This engine also comes in a CNG avatar good for 57 PS and 82 Nm. On the other hand, you can even get a 1.2-litre petrol mill which is capable of generating a decent 90 PS and 113 Nm of peak power and torque. There are options of choosing between either a 5-speed manual or an AMT automatic transmission. It comes in four variants – Lxi, Vxi, Zxi and Zxi+.
