MG Hector BS-6 Launch Scheduled For January 2020 – Report

MG Hector is currently available with BS-4 engines, but later in January 2020, it will be launched with a BS-6 engine. With that, the prices will increase.

MG Hector has been launched in India, with prices starting from Rs 12.18 Lakhs going up to Rs 16.88 Lakhs (ex-showroom pan-India). Also, it is India’s one of the earliest internet connected cars.

Competing with the likes of Tata Harrier, Jeep Compass and Mahindra XUV500, Hector is priced very competitively. It will soon get a new rival going by the name of Kia Seltos. The Seltos is going to be launched next month.

Autocar reports that the BS-6 version of MG Hector will be rolled out in January 2020. As of now, all three engines are BS-4 compliant. The emission norms are set to kick in from April 2020.

MG Hector comes with a 1.5 Litre turbo-petrol engine and a 2.0 Litre diesel engine. The petrol engine also gets a 48V mild-hybrid unit as an option, making three engines to choose from.

The 1.5 Litre engine and the mild-hybrid engine, both produce 143 BHP and 250 Nm of peak torque. The diesel engine produces 170 BHP and 350 Nm on tap. All the engines get a 6-speed MT as standard, but the petrol one gets an additional 6-speed DCT.

The mileage of petrol variant stands at 14.16 kmpl, whereas that of the mild-hybrid petrol is 15.81 kmpl. The diesel engine claims to offer a mileage of 17.41 kmpl.

Features onboard include 10.4-inch touchscreen infotainment, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, panoramic sunroof, LED headlamps and much more. Importantly, it gets i-SMART technology which offers access to over 90+ connected features. like for HVAC Controls, Opening/closing windows, operating the sunroof and much more.

Safety features onboard include front and rear parking sensors, 360-degree camera, 7-airbags, EBD, ABS, Front power adjustable seats and disc brakes on all wheels.

The deliveries for the MG Hector have commenced across India and the first one is out as well. The booking amount for the Hector is Rs 50,000.
