The MG Hector has been unveiled in Mumbai today and it accounts to some first-in-class specs and variant wise features in the market. The Hector comes in four trims – Style, Super, Smart and Sharp – with ‘Style’ being the base variant and ‘Sharp’ being the top-spec fully loaded variant.
MG Hector comes with a 1.5L, petrol engine which will produce 143 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque. The engine will be mated to a 6-speed manual or a DCT automatic. ARAI certified mileage for the petrol manual variant of the Hector is 14.1 kmpl while the automatic variant has a mileage of 13.9 kmpl. The petrol engine also comes with a mild hybrid variant.
Another engine on option is the FCA sourced 2.0L, diesel engine which is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox but there will be no automatic for the diesel. This engine produces 170 PS of power and 350 Nm of torque and has a ARAI certified mileage of 17.4 kmpl. The diesel Hector is more powerful than its rival, the Tata Harrier but similarly spec’ed as the Jeep Compass Diesel. The MG Hector will be offered in five colors, namely – White, Silver, Black, Glaze Red, and Burgandy Red.
MG Hector Style :- The Style variant comes only with the petrol engine and 6-speed manual gearbox.
MG Hector Super :- The Super variant comes as a petrol-manual, petrol hybrird-manual and the diesel-manual.

MG Hector Smart – The Smart variant comes with all petrol and diesel engine options along with any choice of transmission for the petrol engine.
MG Hector Sharp – the top spec Sharp variant also comes with the option of any powertrain/transmission options

MG Hector is the most feature-rich car in the segment. With its launch slated later in June, the Hector will rival the likes of the Jeep Compass, the Tata Harrier and the Mahindra XUV500. Expected to be priced around Rs. 15-20 lakhs, the MG Hector could very well be the game changer in the segment.
