Interestingly, the latest Kia Carnival was launched in our market only a few months ago
The new-generation Kia Carnival or the existing model with a new powertrain was spied testing recently. The luxury MPV is one of the most promising products from Kia, globally. In India, the opulent MPV has done reasonably well on the sales charts in the last few years. In fact, the latest version of the Carnival bears a price tag of Rs 63.91 lakh, ex-showroom. Clearly, that takes it into the luxury car segment. Hence, we see the top Indian celebrities opting for it. For now, let us take a look at the details of this latest test mule.
New-Generation Kia Carnival Spotted Testing?
We are able to come across the specifics of this case courtesy of kindelauto on Instagram. The visuals capture the camouflaged vehicle plying on the public highway. Looking at the silhouette, it becomes clear that this is some avatar of the popular Kia Carnival. At the front, we witness the sharp 7-shaped LED DRLs flanking the vertically-stacked LED headlamps, while almost extending to the middle of the grille. Underneath that, there is the familiar Tiger Nose grille and a sporty bumper. Moving to the sides reveals some more details.
For instance, this Carnival boasts what looks like the aero alloy wheel design, something we have seen on the latest Kia EVs. Apart from that, the sliding doors and the roof rails accentuate the MPV stance even further. Towards the rear, we experience the boxy silhouette with a noticeable roof-mounted spoiler, a shark fin antenna, sleek LED taillamps, which might be connected and an almost flat boot lid. Overall, the design changes look minimal.
Specs
In the international markets, the Kia Carnival comes with multiple powertrain options, including a colossal 3.5-litre V6 GDI Lambda mill, which makes 288 hp / 353 Nm and a much smaller 1.6-litre turbo petrol mill with a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor, which outputs a combined power and torque of 242 hp and 366 Nm, respectively. In India, it gets the 2.2-litre 4-cylinder turbo diesel mill, which generates a healthy 190 hp and 441 Nm of peak power and torque, respectively. Therefore, it is also a possibility that this test mule could be experimenting with a new engine or EREV powertrain. More details will emerge with time.
