New Hyundai Ioniq 5 Launched in India - What All's New?

The famed electric crossover comes with updated features, battery and aesthetic highlights

The new Hyundai Ioniq 5 has been launched for the Indian market. Note that the Ioniq 5 is among the most popular EVs globally. It marked the beginning of a new era for the Korean auto giant back in 2021. It came to our shores in January 2023. The Korean EV embodies the modern design philosophy, the latest tech and convenience prowess, cutting-edge battery technology and world-class active and passive amenities. All these factors make it an impressive all-rounder. For now, let us delve into the specifics of what the new model offers.

New Hyundai Ioniq 5 Launched in India – Exterior Styling

In terms of styling, the new Hyundai Ioniq 5 gets a few updates to set it apart from the outgoing version. These include aspects like a bold front and rear bumper design, a robust front and rear skid plates, a new sporty alloy wheel design, a new rear spoiler design, a new Hi‑tech V‑garnish lighting design, etc. At the same time, it retains the overall angular design cues and that distinctive Parametric Pixel element we all have come to appreciate. All in all, the new Ioniq 5 ensures that it remains visually appealing for the coming time. Also, the EV is available in the following colour schemes with an Obsidian Black interior theme:

  • Gravity Gold Matte
  • Midnight Black Pearl
  • Titan Grey
  • Optic White

New Hyundai Ioniq 5 – Interior, Safety and Features

This has been Hyundai’s strength for ages now. It offers the customers all sorts of latest tech, convenience, comfort and safety functionalities to pamper the occupants. While the existing Ioniq 5 was already among the feature-laden products in this space, the updated model takes things to the next level. Some of the main attractions are:

  • New 3 Spoke leather steering wheel with 4-dots illuminated design and centre fascia
  • 3‑spoke leather‑wrapped steering wheel with interactive 4-dots pixel light and heating function
  • Dual 12.3-inch + 12.3-inch infotainment & cluster displays
  • Redesigned wireless smartphone charging pad with integrated physical controls for heated & ventilated seats
  • Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC)
  • Controller Over‑the‑Air
  • Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay (New)
  • Active Sound Design (New)
  • Remote immobilization for enhanced vehicle theft protection via Hyundai Bluelink (New)
  • New in‑car payment integration allowing users to pay for EV charging directly via the infotainment screen
  • Parking Collision‑Avoidance Assist – Rear
  • Parking Distance Warning

New Hyundai Ioniq 5 – Battery, Range and Price

Finally, the new Hyundai Ioniq 5 is now available with a larger 84 kWh battery pack. Remember, the outgoing model used to draw power from a slightly lower 72.6 kWh. As a consequence, the ARAI-claimed range has gone up from 631 km to 690 km on a single charge. Also, the electric motor on the rear axle makes 229 hp and 350 Nm of peak power and torque, respectively. This makes it one of the best EVs in the country in this regard. Using a fast DC charger, the battery goes from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes. The EV is on sale in a single, fully-loaded avatar with a price tag of Rs 55.70 lakh, ex-showroom.

Editor’s Note

Yatharth Chauhan, Managing Editor

Having tracked the EV space closely over the years, I can confidently say that the updated Hyundai Ioniq 5 strengthens its position as one of the most well-rounded premium electric offerings in India. The larger battery and improved range directly address a key concern for Indian buyers, while the feature upgrades keep it ahead of the curve in terms of tech appeal. What stands out to me is Hyundai’s continued focus on delivering a complete package—design, performance and practicality, rather than chasing specs alone. At this price point, it remains a compelling choice for buyers looking to transition to a future-ready mobility solution without compromising on comfort or brand trust.
