New Hyundai Venue vs Mahindra XUV 3XO Specs Price Features Comparison

The Korean carmaker just launched the new-gen Venue to attract an even wider range of customers and to counter the rising competition

In this post, I am comparing the new Hyundai Venue with the Mahindra XUV 3XO in terms of price, specs, features, etc. The compact SUV segment is among the most crowded spaces in our market. We have models from just about every major mass-market auto firm in this category. This ensures that the buyers have all the options in the world. However, for carmakers, this forces them to ensure that they put their best foot forward and remain on top of their game. That’s why the new Venue comes with incredible new-age tech and convenience amenities. For now, let us delve into this thorough comparison.

New Hyundai Venue vs Mahindra XUV 3XO – Price

Hyundai announced the introductory prices of the new Venue at the launch ceremony a couple of days ago. The compact SUV starts at Rs 7.90 lakh for the base HX 2 trim, and goes up to Rs 15.51 lakh, ex-showroom, for the top-of-the-line HX 10 version. On the other hand, the Mahindra XUV 3XO retails between Rs 7.28 lakh and Rs 14.40 lakh, ex-showroom. Hence, the Mahindra SUV certainly has an edge in this regard.

New Hyundai Venue vs Mahindra XUV 3XO – Specs

The new Hyundai Venue retains the powertrain and transmission options from the outgoing model. This means that it continues to draw power from a 1.2-litre Kappa MPi petrol, a 1.0-litre turbo GDi petrol and a 1.5-litre U2 CRDi diesel engine, generating a familiar 83 PS / 114.7 Nm, 120 PS / 172 Nm and 116 PS / 250 Nm of peak power and torque, respectively. Taking care of the transmission duties is a sole 5-speed manual with the NA petrol, a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT with the turbo petrol and a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission with the diesel. Hence, the needs of all sorts of buyers can be met. The N-Line version shares the engine-transmission combinations with the turbo petrol Venue.

On the other hand, even the Mahindra XUV 3XO offers multiple powertrain alternatives to suit the needs of potential customers. These incorporate a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine, which belts out a cool 110 hp and 200 Nm, the 1.2-litre direct injection turbo petrol mill, which generates the best-in-segment 130 hp and 230 Nm and a 1.5-litre turbo diesel powertrain churning out a decent 115 hp and 300 Nm of peak power and torque, respectively. The gearbox options include a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed AISIN-sourced automatic transmission with the petrol engines and a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed AMT AutoShift gearbox with the diesel engine. Evidently, there isn’t much to choose from between the two in this aspect.

Design and Dimensions

Finally, let us check out how these two SUVs look in the flesh. I must offer a disclaimer here that styling and design are subjective matters. Still, it makes sense to describe how each of these appears on the road. The updated Hyundai Venue carries a bolder and more assertive road presence. It is now 48 mm taller and 30 mm wider, lending it a more substantial and upright profile. Up front, a new dark chrome grille is flanked by twin-horn LED DRLs and quad-beam LED headlamps, while the Horizon LED positioning lamp adds a sleek, futuristic touch. At the rear, the connected horizon-style LED tail lamps enhance visual width. Sculpted lines and muscular wheel arches emphasize its SUV persona, complemented by 16-inch diamond-cut alloys and bridge-type roof rails. A distinctive “VENUE” emblem within the rear glass and a signature C-pillar garnish further accentuate its premium appeal.

In contrast, the Mahindra XUV 3XO also bears a sporty and distinct design philosophy. The Mahindra XUV3XO sports a thoroughly contemporary design, especially following its recent facelift. The front end features a bold fascia with a gloss-black strip connecting the C-shaped LED DRLs housed within the projector LED headlamps. Chrome highlights surround the grille and the signature Twin Peaks emblem, while a rugged skid plate below enhances its sporty appeal. The side profile stands out with pronounced wheel arches clad in black, stylish alloy wheels, and sleek roof rails. At the rear, a full-width connected LED light bar, robust bumper with a solid skid plate, and C-shaped detailing on the edges complete its modern, dynamic stance. Here is a dimensions comparison of the two compact SUVs:

My View

It is an interesting conundrum to choose between these two immensely compelling propositions. On the one hand, we have the new Hyundai Venue with updated interior, exterior, features and safety. It is available in multiple variants to ensure wide accessibility. On the other hand, the Mahindra XUV 3XO has been a constant volume driver for the Indian auto giant. At the end of the day, it is a matter of personal preference. I would advise our readers to take a test drive of both of these and go with the one which feels right according to personal requirements. One can’t really go wrong with either of these.
