It is no secret that Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (MSIL), the country’s largest selling car manufacturer, has been busy readying a facelift of the Ciaz sedan. We have already seen many spy images of the upcoming model. While the latest sighting doesn’t reveal anything new, the latest report by the good folks at IndianAutosBlog goes on to claim that the new car will launch in the first-half of 2018. The new Maruti Ciaz 2018 facelift will carry a handful of styling updates and some new features to keep the car buying lot interested.
The Maruti Ciaz has been on sale with two engine options – 1.4-litre Petrol and 1.3-litre Diesel. The petrol engine outputs a maximum power of 92.45 PS along with a peak torque of 130 Nm. It comes mated to a five-speed manual transmission as standard. A four-speed automatic is also available. The Diesel engine outputs a maximum power of 90 PS along with a peak torque of 200 Nm. The engine comes mated to a five-speed manual transmission. There is no automatic transmission on offer with this engine. The facelift, in most probability, will retain these engines. That said, Maruti might re-tune the motors for marginally higher performance and/or mileage.
New Maruti Ciaz 2018 Facelift Spy Images
It can be seen in the spy images we have here that the new model sports an updated set of taillamps. These taillamps look similar to those on the China-spec Ciaz, i.e., the Suzuki Alivio Pro. Earlier images also hint at a comprehensively updated front-end. There are good chances that the new car will come with a wider grille, a new front bumper and a set of updated headlamps. Unlike what was speculated earlier, the Ciaz facelift won’t have the single-piece grille seen on the Alivio Pro. The interior is likely to get minor changes in the form of an upholstery change and new trim. Also, the new Maruti Ciaz 2018 facelift car will offer more features.

The updated Maruti Ciaz sedan is very likely to launch in the second quarter of 2018. While the company is yet to divulge details on any such plan, we are hoping that the manufacturer will put the updated Ciaz on a display at the fast-approaching Auto Expo 2018. The Ciaz will continue to be on sale at the NEXA premium dealerships even after the advent of the facelift.
New Maruti Ciaz 2018 Facelift Price in India
|Minimum||Rs. 7.50 lakh|
|Maximum||Rs. 10.50 lakh|
Prices are likely to remain more or less the same. That said, the fully-loaded variants of the new Maruti Ciaz 2018 facelift could cost slightly more due to the addition of new features. There won’t be any change in the variants nomenclature. Currently, there are five trims on offer – Sigma, Zeta, Delta, Alpha and S. The ‘S’ trim is nothing but the ‘RS’ trim. It looks like Maruti Suzuki wants to reserve the ‘RS’ monker for high performance variants like the Baleno RS.

The India-spec New Maruti Ciaz 2018 facelift will get the same engines as the current car. This means that the K14 1.4-litre Petrol and the Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre DDIS turbocharged Diesel engines will continue to impress us with their smooth performance and a high mileage. Rumours abound that India might also get a new 1.6-litre petrol engine that powers the China-spec model. This new engine will enable the Ciaz to fend off the heat from the powerful new Hyundai Verna. This Petrol engine outputs a max. power of 121 BHP and a peak torque of 158 Nm. Also, the facelift might even get the new 1.5-litre Diesel engine instead of the 1.3-litre Fiat-sourced motor. However, our guess is that these new engines will debut much after the launch of the upcoming facelift.
