Nissan has announced a price hike for Nissan and Datsun cars, starting from January 2020. The price hike is happening due to unavoidable production costs.

Following other automakers, Nissan and Datsun cars are also set to get a price hike starting next year. The prices of all the models under both the brands will increase by 5%, effective from January 1st.

Nissan has stated an increase in the production costs as the reason for the price hike. After this, the BS-6 prices will also come into play, which will further increase the prices. As of now, no Nissan and Datsun cars are BS-6 compliant.

The lineup of Nissan India includes Kicks, Micra, Terrano and Sunny. Whereas the lineup of Datsun India includes GO, Redi-GO and GO+. As of now, both have no upcoming cars for the Auto Expo 2020.

Recently, there were reports suggesting that Nissan is planning to discontinue the Datsun brand in India. The latter has only three cars which are barely managing to make decent sales figures. From Datsun, Redi-GO is the best-selling model owing to its low pricing.

However, officials later confirmed that Nissan has no plans to discontinue Datsun brand in India. The latter recently introduced the GO and GO+ CVT, as a first-in-segment. To further improve the sales, Datsun and Nissan have announced huge discounts on all their models.

Datsun Redi-GO is also going to get a major facelift soon, which will give it a fresh styling and new features as well. With the BS-6 norms coming in, the hatchback will still continue with its 800cc and 1000cc petrol engines. The facelifted version will be stronger than the outgoing version, after the car recently received 1 Star in Global NCAP crash tests.
