Looks like Nissan Kicks is all set to create its space in its mid-sized SUV segment. Its exterior was unveiled last month and the whole SUV will be unveiled soon. The launch is expected during the first half of 2019.
The production of Kicks has already begun at its plant in Chennai. The first car from production has also rolled out. The test mule was also spotted on the roads of Chennai.
So, here we have a spy video of the Kicks SUV, in 2 different colour options. The first test mule sports a White and Black dual-tone colour and the other one gets a Red-Black combination. The roof of the SUVs was black, with the other colour occupying rest of the body.

The spotted test mules came with minimum camouflage, just covering the front grille and headlamp part and the rear tail light part.
Nissan Kicks test mule gets a silver brushed roof rail and plastic body cladding around the SUV. It gets glossy black finished electric ORVMs, integrated with turn indicators. The double spoke alloy wheel complete the sporty and rough look of the SUVs.
As of now, the feature list is not out, but certain features are out. Nissan Kicks will boast of a segment-first 360-degrees camera and other premium features like LED projector headlamps, Electric ORVMs and more.
Design highlights will include signature V-Motion Grille, wide central air dam, boomerang taillights and sweptback headlamps. It will maintain its rough and tough look, whilst being a city traveller too.
For engine purposes, Nissan Kicks will use a 1.6 Litre petrol engine and 1.5 Litre petrol engine, that comes on Renault Captur. Most likely the engines will be BS-6 compliant.
The petrol engine produces 103 BHP and 245 Nm of peak torque. The diesel engine puts out 108 BHP and 300 Nm of peak torque.
For transmission purposes, the petrol engine might come with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Diesel engine might go up with the 6-speed gearbox. As of now, there are no speculations of an automatic unit debuting with the Kicks.
Prices of Nissan Kicks are likely to start off at Rs 11 Lakhs up to Rs 16 Lakhs. Chances are that Nissan might place this SUV at the higher end of the segment.
It will compete with the likes of Mahindra Scorpio, Hyundai Creta and Renault Captur. Scorpio is a 7-seater, while the other options are 5-seaters only. But a similar price range puts them in the line.
