Nissan India is speeding up to launch its flagship SUV in India. Nissan has commenced the production of Kicks SUV and it has rolled out the first SUV from its Chennai Plant. With this, the launch has been confirmed for January 2019.
Nissan Kicks is the brand’s answer to Renault Captur and Hyundai Creta. Kicks is based on Terrano’s platform and use Captur’s engine.
Bookings for Nissan Kicks officially commence from 10th December. However, dealership level bookings have begun for some time now. The minimum booking amount to be paid is Rs 51,000.
In October, Nissan India showcased the exteriors of Kicks officially. It does not look different from the global-spec Kicks. The curvy-shape, high wheel arches and fun-looking style all remain the same.
Exterior features onboard include LED projector headlamps, LED DRLs, front fog lamp, electric ORVMs with integrated turn indicators, roof rails, shark fin antenna and diamond cut alloy wheels.
As per rumours, Nissan Kicks will sport many segment first features. It is likely to get a 360-degrees camera. The cameras can be switched on anytime and will be placed on the front, rear and wing mirrors.
It is also rumoured to get a telematics-enabled smartwatch, semi-digital instrument cluster with integrated GPS navigation and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as standard fitments. With these features onboard, it will provide a tough competition to Creta.

Nissan Kicks will come with a 1.6-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engine, borrowed from Terrano. The petrol engine produces 110 BHP and 150 Nm of peak torque. The diesel unit cranks out 108 BHP and 250 Nm of peak torque.
It is most likely to get a manual and automatic transmission for both petrol and diesel engines. A 5-speed Manual is expected to come on the petrol variant, whereas the diesel one might get a 6-speed unit.
We believe Kicks will get a slightly retuned engine for more powerful figures. Also, the SUV is expected to get BS-6 engines. The emission norms are set to kick in from April 2020. If it gets a BS-4 engine now, the cost of upgrading within a year will be expensive.
The prices of Kicks is most likely to begin from 10 Lakhs going up till Rs 16 Lakhs. Prices will be on par with Hyundai Creta.
