Oil India Limited has a Rs 1.1 Crore Peterbilt Wireline truck at its disposal. Peterbilt is one of the biggest truck manufacturers in the world. It is an American company which is making trucks since 1939. It specialises in the production of heavy-duty and medium-duty commercial vehicles. These trucks are extremely popular in the USA and Canada. However, we have spotted these trucks in India on multiple occasions as well. There are some people who have imported the stocks into our country too. Apart from that, the government of India also uses these trucks as in this video. Here are the details.

Peterbilt Wireline Truck in India

As per the information in the caption, this truck is a completely self-contained wireline vehicle which has the operator interface cabinet in the front section. It has a high-tensile steel system in the rear which is operated hydraulically from the chassis. Additionally, the data is gathered through recording equipment at the rear and fed to the computer systems in the control cabin at the front. This truck was spotted on the Agra-Jaipur highway near Dausa.

The government of India uses this in the oil rigs and exploration fields in Assam. Currently, we find it in Rajasthan for exploring a particular spot. Somehow, the Peterbilt trucks are the ideal for such applications. That is the reason why our government imports them from abroad. There are other instances where we see private individuals using second-hand Peterbilt trucks in India as well. The sheer legacy that these trucks carry is quite commendable and attractive.

There are various models of these trucks. The most prominent ones include 379, 389 and 579. These have 6.7-litre, 11-litre and 13-litre Cummins engines. The Peterbilt 579 is 22.5 feet (6.86 m) in length which is incredible. The total power output is upto 510 hp and the top speed is around 120 km/h. They have power steering, air suspension, disc brakes, aluminium wheels, active safety features, AC, cruise control and more. The prices range from Rs 50 lakh to Rs 2.4 Crore in India. We are not sure about the exact cost of this truck with all the additional equipment.
