Renault has officially announced the prices of its latest product in the Indian market, the Kiger. Touted as the most affordable compact SUV in the Indian market, the Kiger, certainly, has delivered on that promise. In fact, it undercuts the competition significantly in the compact SUV segment. Moreover, like its sibling, the Nissan Magnite, the Kiger tries to intrude into the space of the premium hatchback segment as well. In fact, almost all the premium hatchbacks are more expensive than the Kiger. This has initiated a tug of war between segments and the buyers are left with a plethora of options to choose from. For the industry, it is a good thing, but for some particular segments, it can lead to a lot of chaos. Since we have already covered the details of the Kiger, let us glance through the key features of the Renault Kiger.
Renault Kiger – Exterior and Design
The Renault Kiger looks very sporty and modern with a thick front grille with 3D graphic effects, along with sleek LED DRLs on the sculpted bonnet, three LED headlamps at each with encasing in chrome octagonal unit, chrome reflector, Aluminium finish Skid plates, 16-inch black diamond-cut alloys, Protective Wheel-Arches, usable roof rails, sloping roofline giving it a coupe-like appearance, C-shaped LED tail lamps and sport rear windows. A high ground clearance of 205mm gives it an overall muscular and sturdy silhouette. It has the best in segment boot space of 405 L which can be further expanded to a massive 879 L with rear seats folded.

Renault Kiger – Engines and Prices
There are many engine-gearbox combinations available with the Kiger. Starting with a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol making 72PS and 96Nm can be mated to either a 5-speed manual or an AMT. Then there is a more powerful 1.0-litre turbo petrol which makes 100PS and 160Nm (152Nm with the CVT) and comes mated to either a 5-speed manual or a CVT transmission. It is fair to say that the customers can choose the engine-gearbox combination for all possible requirements. The introductory prices of the Kiger start at Rs 5.45 lakh and go all the way upto Rs 9.55 lakh, ex-showroom. The Dual-tone options will cost Rs 17,000 more for any variant.

The rivals of the Renault Kiger will be hard to establish because of the aggressive pricing. The direct rival will be its sibling, the Nissan Magnite, then there will be segment rivals like Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Ford EcoSport. Because of the pricing, it might give a tough competition to the premium hatchbacks like the Hyundai i20, Volkswagen Polo, Honda Jazz and Maruti Suzuki Baleno. The bookings for the Kiger have been started with Rs 11,000 across all dealership locations in the country.
