Tata Altroz will be powered by a 1.5L diesel engine which is the same from Nexon. However, for Altroz it will be de-tuned for higher fuel efficiency and will be mated to a 5-speed gearbox.

The 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine will deliver a power of 84bhp and is tuned to 114Nm of torque. There are also talks that Altroz might get a more powerful petrol engine suitable for higher trims. The motor will be 1.2-litre, turbocharged petrol, churning out 100bhp with 140Nm of torque. It could also get a dual-clutch automatic transmission but there are no confirmed new from the manufacturers.

Safety features like dual airbags, ABS with EBD, child seat anchor points, seat belt warning will be standard.

Once launched, Tata Altroz will compete with the likes of Maruti Baleno, Volkswagen Polo, Hyundai Elite i20, Toyota Glanza and Honda Jazz. The expected price for the Altroz will be between Rs 6 lakh-Rs 9 lakh(ex-showroom).
