Tata Motors is on a success streak in the Indian market. Now, the company is planning to launch a new SUV that will compete with the likes of the Hyundai Creta and the Kia Seltos. The new model is expected to be launched in 2023. However, there is no clear information about the exact launch date and price as yet. The upcoming SUV is said to offer a safe and comfortable ride. It will be aimed squarely at the likes of the Hyundai Creta and Skoda Kushaq. Here’s all we know about the Tata Blackbird SUV so far.

As per recent reports and leaks, the Tata Blackbird will be positioned between the Nexon and the Harrier SUV. It will be underpinned by the X1 platform (seen on the Tata Nexon). However, it is expected to be significantly longer and bigger than the Tata Nexon. The upcoming midsize SUV is likely to get a coupe-like silhouette. On the front, the new Blackbird is said to feature LED headlights, a sleek front grille, and a tall bonnet. It will come with high-ground clearance and plastic body cladding.

On the inside, the Tata Blackbird SUV will get a spacious cabin with modern features. It is likely to sport a large infotainment system with the latest connectivity features. The upcoming car will also support wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Additionally, the Tata Blackbird will come with features like automatic climate control, ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera, automatic wipers, a rear defogger, a digital instrument console, and a wireless charger. The midsize SUV will also come with auto-dimming IRVMs and push-button start.

In terms of specs, the Tata Blackbird SUV will be powered by a new 1.5L turbo petrol engine. It will be paired with both manual and automatic gearbox options. There will also be a 1.5L diesel engine variant. The new Tata Nexon-based SUV is likely to come with a starting price of Rs 10-12 lakh (ex-showroom). It will compete with the likes of Hyundai Creta, Skoda Kushaq, Kia Seltos, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Volkswagen Taigun, Maruti Grand Vitara, and MG Astor. More details about the specs and features are likely to emerge in the coming days.
