Tata Harrier Jet Edition Paint Alloys Peeling Off

A strange case has emerged where the paint on the alloys of the Tata Harrier Jet Edition is allegedly peeling off. Tata Motors offers numerous special edition models in its product lineup. This is true for Harrier, Safari, Nexon and other cars as well. In order to separate various versions, there are generally aesthetic alterations on the exterior, as well as the interior. Mechanically, these special edition models are similar to the rest of the lineup. In the Jet Edition of the Tata Harrier, a specific issue has been reported.

Paint on Tata Harrier Jet Edition Alloys Peeling Off

The details of this case have surfaced on a Team BHP forum. An owner has narrated the entire incident. He says he noticed the paint on the alloy wheel peeling off. Initially, he thought that he might have caressed the kerb somewhere, which is quite common. However, he says he saw the exact same situation with all four wheels. Now, that is a bit weird and not something which generally happens. He claims that the layer of matte black paint over the normal alloy wheels has been applied without sanding it. He feels that could be the reason why the paint didn’t stick. In fact, he says that the area from where the paint has come off is very smooth to touch.

Author’s Note

While one doesn’t expect such issues in a vehicle that costs close to Rs 30 lakh, on-road, these things can crop up from everything ranging from manufacturing defect to owner’s negligence. Thankfully, this is not something which can prevent the owner from using the vehicle. Still, we expect Tata Motors to look into this and provide a solution.
