In this video, the Renault Kwid-rivalling, Tata HBX can be seen undergoing road tests. The high amount of camouflage indicates that the launch of the micro-SUV is still a while away from us. First displayed at the Auto Expo last year, the tough and muscular micro-SUV garnered a ton of attraction. In this day and age where the entire industry is trending towards SUVs of all shapes and sizes, the micro-SUV segment could well be the next target for the car manufacturers in our market. Tata is preparing for this by bringing in an almost identical production version to the one shown at the Auto Expo. Let us glance through what the micro-SUV might come equipped with.
Renault Kwid-Rival Tata HBX – Expected Exteriors
According to the concept at the Auto Expo, Tata HBX will retain over 90% of exteriors from that. This will ensure that we will have a rugged, strong and muscular SUV on our hands. There will be a split headlamp setup with LED DRLs on the bonnet and headlamps on the bumper. Also, the HBX will host skid plates to accentuate the sportiness of the SUV. The side profile highlights the roof rails along with the door handles on the top of the rear door along with pronounced wheel arches. The taillamps seem to be the wrap-around type extending to the sides of the SUV. All in all, it will carry a modern appearance which is something a lot of customers get influenced by.
Expected Interiors and Features
According to some spy videos, the features list might include things like a flat-bottom steering wheel which is becoming very popular with modern cars including some of Tata’s own products. This gives it a very sporty feel which is necessary for an SUV. Some of the other equipment lists include a floating Digital Touchscreen Infotainment System with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Air-Con vents and Digital Instrument Cluster which might be borrowed from other Tata products.
The expected engine options might include a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine making 86 hp. There might well be turbo petrol on offer as well. This engine will come mated to a 5-speed manual or 5-speed AMT gearbox. The expected prices of the Tata HBX are likely to be in the region of Rs 4 lakh to Rs 8 lakh, ex-showroom. The rivals will include the likes of Ignis, Kwid and S-Presso.
