Tata Motors is all set to showcase an all-electric hatchback based on the 45X concept at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show next month.
Tata Motors is soon going to introduce an all-new premium hatchback based on the 45X concept in India. Several reports state that the homegrown automaker is expected to showcase the near production ready iteration of this vehicle at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show, set to take place next month.
In addition to the said hatchback, Tata Motors is likely to preview the seven-seater version of the Harrier as well as the concept Hornbill, a micro-SUV expected to make its debut in India sometime next year. Apart from all these, Tata Motors is also going to have a wild-card at its pavilion.

This wild-card is going to be the concept for the all-electric iteration of the 45X concept. The same will soon make it to Indian roads, Recent speculations suggest that the all-electric version of the 45X based hatchback could launch in India within the next 3-4 years time.
However, according to a recent report published in Autocar India, the launch of the all-electric hatchback based on the Tata 45X concept could be as early as 2021. Details regarding this vehicle are quite scarce at the moment. That said, expect this vehicle to offer an approx. 250 km driving range on a single charge.

Coming back to the petrol powered derivative of the 45X based hatchback, the same, when launched in India is going to compete against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai i20 and the Honda Jazz. It is going to be the first vehicle which is based on Tata Motors all-new Alpha architecture.
It is likely to get a 1.2-litre petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine in its portfolio. Transmission options can include a 5-speed manual gearbox along with the option of an automatic unit as well. Prices are likely to fall in-between the range of INR 5.5 lakh to INR 8.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
