In modern times, the number of EVs on Indian roads is increasing rapidly and a drag race with a powerful ICE-powered engine is warranted.

In this video, a drag race between the Tata Nexon EV Max and VW Virtus is captured. For the uninitiated, the Nexon EV is the highest-selling electric car in the country by a mile. On the other hand, the Virtus is a preferred choice for driving enthusiasts due to its legendary TSI turbo petrol engines. Therefore, the drag race between these two distinct products is bound to be exciting. Let us check out who comes out on top.

The video has been uploaded by Pratham Shokeen on YouTube. Because EVs have the advantage of offering almost the entire torque in an instant, the YouTuber gave the Virtus an advantage by having just 1 person in it and 2 in the Nexon EV. For the first round, the AC on both vehicles is ON. After launching the Virtus, it stayed ahead and won the first round. Note that the Traction Control was OFF in the Virtus but ON on the EV which is why it didn’t get a perfect launch. For the second round, there was only 1 person in both cars and the Virtus couldn’t use the launch control.

As a result, the EV simply shot ahead from the starting line and was nowhere to be seen during the entire duration of the race. This is where the true strength of the Nexon EV came into the display. The instant torque enables quick acceleration which is just not possible in traditional IC engines. For round 3, the YouTuber decided to launch the sedan once again which resulted in the win. Finally, they did a rolling acceleration race from 30 km/h in which the EV, once again, trounced the Virtus.

It is priced between Rs 18.34 lakh to Rs 20.04 lakh, ex-showroom. What are your thoughts on this drag race?
