A panoramic sunroof on a Renault Kwid? Check out this modified version which has gotten a couple of modifications to make it more premium.
Panoramic sunroof is considered as a premium feature that is now being found on cars worth 15-20 Lakhs. Some years back, it only came on your BMWs and Audis for that matter. However, here’s a modified Renault Kwid that also gets an aftermarket panoramic sunroof. Check out this modified version which might be the best Kwid seen out on the road.
To clear it out, this modified Renault Kwid is from South Africa, which is another major market for Renault. There’s no engine upgrades and not even many cosmetic upgrades either. It gets bigger 16-inch five-spoke alloy wheels with fatter rubber. It gets custom Satin Blue wrap that looks really well on this car. Lastly, it gets Rockford Fosgate Audio which takes up the entire boot and custom exhaust muffler.
The biggest highlight is that huge panoramic sunroof with wind deflector. It is a soft-top sunroof which is something new that we have seen. Rest of the bits have not been changed. The South-African version of Renault Kwid gets the same features including 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, LED DRLs, fog lamps, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and a digital instrument cluster. Safety bits include dual airbags, rear parking sensors and rear parking camera.
While the SA-spec gets a 1.0 Litre three-cylinder petrol engine only, the India-spec gets a 800cc engine additionally. The litre petrol engine produces 69 PS and 91 Nm of peak torque, while the other engine is good for 56 PS and 72 Nm of peak torque. The bigger engine gets the option of either a 5-speed MT and a 5-speed AMT, whereas the 800cc engine just goes with a manual stick.
The prices of BS6 Renault Kwid start at Rs 2.94 Lakhs up to Rs 4.24 Lakhs for the 800cc variants. The 1.0 Litre variants are priced from Rs 4.16 Lakhs up to Rs 5.07 Lakhs (all prices ex-showroom). Kwid competes with the likes of Maruti S-Presso, Datsun GO, Maruti WagonR, Tata Tiago and Hyundai Santro.
