The Toyota CH-R Crossover is in consideration for the Indian market. However, the Japanese automaker is yet to take a call on this. It could either be this, or the Rush SUV slotted for a debut in our country.

Some completely undisguised images of the Toyota CH-R crossover doing its testing rounds in the city of Bangaluru have surfaced on the internet. Earlier, Toyota officials have said that they are considering to launch the CH-R crossover in India. However, no concrete decision in this regard has been taken until now. There are speculations that instead of the CH-R, Toyota could also launch the Rush SUV in India. Both the SUVs will fall in the price range of about INR 12 lakh to 16 lakh if launched. Hence, competing with the likes of Hyundai Creta, Mahindra XUV500 and the Jeep Compass.ย toyota ch-r front profile

The Toyota CH-R is based on the Japanese automaker’s TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) and hence offers a gasoline as well as a hybrid powertrain. It is likely that if and when Toyota decides to launch the CH-R in the Indian market, it will have a hybrid powertrain variant. To keep the prices low, Toyota is likely to manufacture the CH-R in the Indian market itself.

The Toyota CH-R comes with a very futuristic exterior body design. It follows the automaker’s latest design language which gives it very sharp and aggressive design, especially from the front. Since the CH-R is essentially a crossover, it looks the part from it side profile and gets a slight coupe-likeย body style. At the back, this crossover looks very contemporary and stylish. This is thanks to the roof-mounted rear spoiler, the angular tail-lamps, the stout boot-lid and the aggressive bumper.

The cabin of the Toyota CH-R will have a premium set-up. Hence, the range-topping model could get leather wrapped upholstery and soft=touch materials on the dashboard and door panels. The design is such that the entire centre console is slightly tilted towards the driver. There is a floating infotainment system and dark colour theme for the entire cabin which gives it a sporty appeal.
