The Etios Cross has never done too well on the sales charts but its manufacturer, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, is yet to give up on the pseudo-crossover body variant of its B-segment hatchback. The company has come up with a new special variant of this hatchback. Dubbed as the Etios Cross X, the new model should help the manufacturer find more buyers during this year’s festive season. The new Toyota Etios Cross X special edition is available with both petrol and Diesel engines and comes with many new visual updates and a new Quarts Brown exterior paint option. The Cross X model has gone on sale at an ex-showroom price of Rs 6.8 lakh.
The front-end of the Etios Cross X edition boasts a new grille that is finished in black. The plastic body cladding for the latest special edition comes painted in body colour. The new Etios Cross special variant also gets an X Edition badge on the C-pillar. Even the interior comes with a handful of updates. For starters, the dashboard gets faux carbon fibre trim. You also get a new fabric seat upholstery and a 6.8-inch touch-screen audio system. The touchscreen interface doubles up as the display for the reverse camera. Other than this, the interior also gets a leather wrap for the steering wheel. Other features highlights of the exterior include diamond cut alloy wheels, black roof rails and a rear roof spoiler. Safety features include ABS with EBD, dual front SRS airbags, ISOFIX child seat mounts and driver seat belt warning.
The Toyota Etios Cross X special edition gets the same petrol and Diesel engine options as the regular car. These include a 1.2-litre, DOHC, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 1.4-litre D-4D, four-cylinder, turbocharged, Diesel engine. The petrol engine outputs a maximum power of 79 BHP, while the Diesel engine produces 67 BHP. Both the engines come mated to a five-speed manual transmission.
